Depends. I've known people to get into gas right out of school. I went straight to tankers hauling waste right out of school. Obviously, the bigger national outfits that run local will not hire you bc of insurance reasons and to be honest I would not feel comfortable handing a rookie a set of keys hauling liquid hazmat. I think Schneider would depending on your area. I believe if you live in the Mid-Atlantic you've got a good shot. You really just need to go to local companies in your area and ask... I saw a local daycab tanker drive in my area on the way to the bank one day fresh out of school and I called them-they gave me a job. It's timing, demand, your area, and most of all luck.
