Humans are creative when they have to be.

Hand warmers for winter gloves is a temporary solution.

Companies must understand that the harder they try to impose a environment against humans in the name of 10 dollars a night idling on a half million dollar total investment it's stupid. Futile I say.

yes, this is very true, given the computer and satellites.

however, most states allow idling for "driver comfort", beyond the ridiculous 5-10 minutes of idling times.

they just don't want us to idle for no reason, where as, driver comfort IS a reason.

there are many idling laws charts (state by state) that do say, "for driver comfort", look them up.

this also makes a good to great argument for the companies to invest in and maintain, APU's.

A few tears back, I ran briefly for a renegade outfit
    5 trucks. Paper logs
I was coloring way outside the lines.
One day the owner calls me
Says, I see your in Oklahoma doing 69 mph
I say, how do you know that?
He says. Oh, I have a tracking program on all my trucks
I say, you stupid #######! You're doing electronic logging from your end
If I or another driver get in a mess, you don't think the dot or high dollar lawyers aren't gonna get their hands on that program?
My logs won't come close to matching what's on that tracker
If you're gonna run renegade, you run renegade all the way.
    I quit immediately

    Tell DOT #########.

When your wheels are skies high and you are mashed under the frame they can have it all.

That was what I was told 30 plus years ago. And apologies to the Law (I love the Law, but not. that. much. you see? =)

Does your Cascada have Optimized Idle ? That what my company is getting on their new trucks. We had battery APUs and they just got new trucks, no APU but the old Optimized Idler system is back. The truck computers will start and stop the engine for sleeper heat or cooling and battery recharging and to keep engine oil warm. That how the old Optimized Idler worked. I'm interested to see how they put the system together now with DPF filter. Ask you company what the expected you to do when it 12f and you can't Idle. Maybe they also are going back to Optimize Idle system

Tell the "bean counters" to try and sleep in a dairy cooler. See how they like it. Every company I ever worked for had some sort of loosely enforced idling policy. If anybody gave me crap about idling, I quit. Now, I wasn't a "habitual" idler, I'd shut the truck off while waiting somewhere ( unless I knew it wouldn't start again) but for sleeping, they could cram it with walnuts.

My last company had trackers. Not for logging but to save from phones to find out where the drivers are at.
They don't match my logs. And I was there 3 years. Only thing matching was fuel.

I think his point was, if there was a wreck, the lawyers would take the logbook and the tracking program, put them side by side and the driver is toast.

I turned in legal paper logs.

Those get stored about 6 months I think and then discarded.

I really hope they did discard all that paper. There is hellfire and damination in them papers....
