Might want to try Boyd Bros Transportation out of Alabama. They are a flatbed hauler and I believe they hire new CDL school grads..

To many things I didn't like about the company. Still looking at weighing decisions on the home front. Sounds like for NOW Prime TANKER is my best option

I have driven tanker before, one of the FD I was on had an 18 wheeler Tanker we used for LARGE Commercial Fires, wasn't a whole lot of Hwy driving but when word spread to the local towns that we had a tanker capable of delivering the same amount of water as 3 tankers, we stayed busy

I can recommend Roehl. I got my start there and things went pretty well. The training was very good. I came out of it feeling like I was a safe, capable driver. They give you the training without much out of pocket money. You just have to agree to work for them for about a year and they will forgive the cost of the training. The pay there is ok to start out, but they aren't a place you want to spend too many years working at. Once you get your training forgiven, it's time to start looking around because there are better-paying jobs out there when you have a year of experience. They are a good place to start out at. They are good people, and they do what they say they will do.

Prime turned me down, they said, because of my work history. I have no terminations and have either been 1099 or had temp jobs as a supplemental income, except for Home Depot, which I quite because my operations manager was verbally abusive and they cut me down to 10 hours per week. Prime recruiter told me she needs me to go and get some solid work history. Unfortunately their application only goes back 3 years because beyond 5 years in the past, I have had 3 jobs since I was 16, all of them for a minimum of 5 years or more. Don't try to make sense out of it, you will go crazy. Just keep plugging away. Someone will definitely hire you.

Right there with you. I'm considering Roehl for that fact alone . Wouldn't mind shooting for Millis but doesn't sound like they pay during class and I couldn't swing that with the family. Perks sound better than Roehl though from what I've read here and on both websites. I'm in SE Wisconsin so both are local for me.

During 3 weeks CLASSROOM, you do not get paid. However when you get on road with trainer you make $.25/cpm for ALL Miles the truck is moving, whether you are behind the wheel or your trainer is. I did some time with Millis and would recommend them over everyone. I know a couple of trainers there so let me know what I can do. I am going with Jim Palmer after the 1st of the year hopefully. They pay more per mile after you are on your own, and they cover more states. Millis basically runs EAST of the Mississippi, where as Roehl and JPT run ALL 48.
