PDF files are not MS Office files.... See the .PDF?????
MS 10 can either have Adobe or Edge open them. See the above procedures to reset it to what you want.

What else is he having problems with???
-
He has to set the correct default program for the PDF File. This is NOT NOT NOT an MS Office issue. I suspect once he sets the correct default it will open.
-
It wasn't for the PDF files.

Can't open the spreadsheets for the same reason. -
Did you set the default like the PDF.. the file you shown was an PDF...
I gave you my E-Mail.. send me one of your spreadsheets and I will see if it opens here.
You can also download https://www.openoffice.org/
A lot of times if you right click on the file, then run as administrator. -
Yes. I too have a problem believing MS 10 would teach any user files. Maybe messed with default application settings.
On a related note. I have not messed with Open Office in a long time but I've found it to be bullet proof in opening almost any sort or version of user data file such as spreadsheets and documents. Is Open Office still compatible with MS10? I permanently moved to Mac (and Zoho cloud SQL backend) a few years ago and never looked back. -
I could have phrased that better. I meant it was the OP that was having trouble with spreadsheets, file type associations.
-
Amen Brother!!!
-
But I think the confusion came in when the OP listed a PDF as the file that they could not open.
Something isn't matching up there.
This the confusion as to what files are in question. -
well, it's not a PDF file.....I'm no computer genius, but I do know the difference between an Excel spreadsheet that I use as a checkbook register and a PDF file. Thanks.
