Just after the accident in Orla, we had another one Sunday near Jal, NM. Both drivers died. I actually worked with one of the drivers in Monahans, TX. Four dead in a span of two weeks. Kinda makes you wonder if this life is even worth it, considering we make nothing compared to what we used to.

I think its more of a perception thing than reality. Remember that with the internet you get things like accidents around the country in a moments notice. These have always happened, you just didn't hear about it. That's why you need to look at statistics as a whole to compare these events. Taking a couple of incidents and forming an opinion about the industry doesn't make sense.

Arguing someone's opinion with your opinion also makes no sense. The internet also created people like you.

Back when things were moving, there were way more. You just didn't hear about it, and the pay was so good everyone kept their heads down and their mouths shut.
I saw way more than I wanted to down there, that's for sure.

After seeing the carnage that claimed the life of a co-worker I had just spent time with at the Christmas party earlier on, I hated going to the Mentone-Orla area so much I was given the shorter loads around the Midland area. I was glad for it too. I was doing 6 loads compared to their 3 but felt so much better.

Truckers really need to band together. If you look at the inflation statistics the pay that they offer now is slave money. Truckers in the 80's for todays money made 3 times of what they are paid now.

Life is difficult when you lose good people.

You just mourn, then dry your tears and get rolling.

Im a little bit of a hardass in battle, but such a softie that I always remember the fallen. I cannot help it.

The worst are those who died when they could have been a little less stupid and lived another day or 50 years.
