Well at Landstar it's all about safety. As long as your safe, stay out of trouble, and pass your 120 day inspections there will be no recourse of your time off. That's your business to run as you see fit. Take a few weeks off, and get back on the road covering loads when your ready, true self dispatch.

That actually sounds very good, safety and the not nannying.

I regularly take ten days or two weeks off. Thing is, if you do that you have to be prepared to make up for it when you go back out...the fixed expenses like insurance keep going even if you're at the house, just like if you had your own authority. It's funny to me how some guys get all the way through the process of coming on board to LS and still don't get that they have to be in charge of their business...they fail to understand that as long as the safety rules are followed then LS will never call...not to check on you, not to help, they call for nothing...until you screw up.
On the other hand sometimes guys who are curious about LS and who have been beaten down by years of working for a 'hold your hand' nanny company think you're BS'ing them when you tell them they can make all the decisions for themself with no intervention. They think it sounds like utopia. You have to be self disciplined here. It's very easy to get in a rut of sitting at home if you're accustomed to someone telling you when you need to go back out...one day turns into two or three and into a week very quickly.HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
same way at mercer , you take off when you want, long as you want

you dont have a good understanding of how its works, it works well if you take time to learn the system. i am regularly booked 3 to 4 loads ahead got 3 booked right now, some are simply afraid to book ahead in fear they might miss something better, but then they might not. and then they usually end up with less. frankly i dont have to play the kiss agent butt here like elsewhere, i like that. but your understanding of how it works here is a bit off, its more of a first empty, first offered not first empty , first loaded, there is a differenceHopeOverMope Thanks this.

Just got off phone inquiring to Mercer and they said 97+ trucks. Landstar said 94+ but that wasn't confirmed as of late with them.

Hey Rooster I turned my app into ATS. Waiting on an answer. If I decide to go to ATS, I want to follow your Plan and Rent for a year (1 Year Lease) save some money and buy me an older truck cash! I am torn between between ATS and D&E (Roadrunner). My question is do you think about going to ATS at this time? I know everything is slow with Flatbed, but I am use to being an Lease O/O with Mercer and I am still use to calling my shots! So any feedback Good or Bad would be appreciated. I am currently at Lone Star Company driver and starving to death! LOL!
