I thought I read a reg somewhere that said you have to keep copies of receipts for a time if you don't have originals
-
I don't speed and log it as I do it is all I can say.
-
Receipts are between you and your accountant....or company if a company driver

My mistake...the "7-1/2 minute" rule isn't really a rule. Any time less than 15 minutes can be flagged with the amount of time written.
That's a screen shot right off the FMCSA's website. Just because your company doesn't flag it as a violation doesn't mean it is not an actual violation. Hell, I've received several nasty-grams from safety alleging various violations, and I have to call and explain the regulations to them...specifically the exception or exemption that allowed me to do what I did. -
The motor carrier must retain "supporting documents" for the 6 months they are required to hang onto the logs. You don't have to have them with you in the truck, though.double yellow, Lepton1, rank and 1 other person Thank this.

Look at the language. That says "MAY be identified" as opposed to "SHALL be identified". In the legal world that means quite a bit, and might explain why I've never heard any crap about not doing that.

You guys that aren't O/O's have no idea how screwed up Oregon is, they hold almost 6,000 of my money in an "Escrow account" just so they have leverage in case you can't pay your PUC bill, we always bought permits with a CC, now if you use a CC they want to charge you for the permit, the fees, AND a charge for paying with a CC, if it wasn't for one of my better drivers living up there I would consider dropping them and all their BS.

Asking for fuel receipts? I'd probably have a problem. Every time I fuel I use pilot/fj when possible per company request. Always says "you are eligible for fuel and go. No receipt required". I haven't had a receipt in ages. The rare case when I fuel elsewhere I am instructed to throw them away. I assume my company gets a report from T-check that satisfies there tax and accounting obligations.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

I'll take "may" over "shall" any time.Rusty Trawler Thanks this.
