Post some pics of both sides of your truck. Also, between the frame rails, by the catwalk.
I'm completely confused.

An APU is basically a Generator to provide AC for inside the cab and will normally keep a trickle charge on the main batteries.... you have a battery pack. Pics please

I noticed a place to plug in at the Dukes Travel Plaza off of I-20 near Canton, TX. However, the expense was far more than I would be willing to pay unless someone else was covering it. They had a handful of spots set up for Shore Power.

Yes, it's an EPU. Electric Power Unit.
Stupidest device I've ever used on a truck, totally worthless for anything beyond an exact 10hr break. Set it at the start, and it's not working at hr 10.
I miss my diesel APUs, or even a generator. -

Does another engine run when truck shuts off? Apus are like a diesel powered generator.
If you have an apu that isnt charging your truck batteries when it is running, then something is wrong with it.j_martell Thanks this. -

APU stands for Auxiliary power unit. The 4 extra batteries hanging off my frame is also Auxiliary to the main system. It might be a ####ty system but it still is an APU and still gets the 400 pound exemption. Now stop trying to point out how the original poster is wrong and actually try and help them. j
Now that being said. To the OP. What truck are you using? Is the system designed to work with the truck or is it a 3rd party system.
What type of truck do you have by the way?
Balakov100 has posted a list places with plugins. Also make sure you have the right cable. My 2016 prostar requires a 20amp plug to plugin but my 2014 only required a standard 15amp. (They up the inverter from 1200w to 1800w.).
Also idleaire units have an external plug you can use to plugin the truck but its not as useful to plug in the truck when you have a Idleaire AC unit.IdleAir Thanks this.
