That's it I've been there done that! It hit 90 something here in Cleveland today I hear you about stuff I was baking in the sun all day with my 906 cases.

Whhewww! What a day for the heat @JPenn can testify out in Aberdeen,MD at the GFS warehouse out there.
I got to work 2:45am I had 905 cases with a cube of 912 meaning if you opened up the back of the trailer and looked inside you would see enough room to put some two wheelers and enough room to move around and then after that floor to ceiling all the way to the noise of the trailer a quarter of the trailer was freezer OMG I had more freezer today then you can shake a stick at and it was all big heavy stuff french fries, frozen pizza's and bread and juice and big cases of breaded chicken and Bosco Sticks (you can tell it was a school route) heavy chevy.
Then on top of that we had a transit break down caused one truck to go out way way way late so when I was done with my route I ran way out to Geauga County my self an ATM Supervisor and another driver to help a driver who if we wouldn't have helped him he wouldn't have gotten done until 9pm.
My self and the ATM supervisor did 3 stops then the supervisor asked me if I wanted to keep working I said sure. He said tell you what take the refer van and I'll take your tractor trailer back to the yard. I said deal. So I took the refer van with one stop on and he took my big truck and trailer back to the yard. Anyhow I had 4 hours of overtime. Did 905 cases on my own and then did 4 stops of another route.
It was like an old school day do a truck load then go and do a cargo van load. I'll tell you what our cargo vans they switched over to the Freightliner Blue Tech Vans those things can hold a good chunk of cube. You can load load load load load those things. They used to run Ford E-250 extended cargo vans which you could fit about 100 cases in one of those maybe a tad more, and while I like the Ford Econoline van better then the Freightliner BlueTech the BlueTech though it's room to haul. -
That's sad that you didn't get any Holiday pay. I've worked at places that operated under that same M.O.

Well, this morning when I got into work I went to log on the e-log said I had spent 8hours and 34 minutes off duty. Excellent. So I logged on and went out to find my trailer which wasn't there like it should have been. So after 40 minutes of waiting my trailer showed up hooray! I then went out and ran my route which went 1-2-3 and was done by 14:00 big difference from yesterday. That was good because I have other things to do. Anyhow chilling at home now in the A/C which is better then sweating outside. However I lucked out today the trailer I had today the refer unit and freezer unit were constantly cycling so that kept things cool.

How did you work when you didn't get 10 hrs off?

I logged in and headed out, I don't know what the rule really is because technically we are local and are within 100 air miles of the yard so we really do not have to be on log books. Although I guess the general rules still apply, but they do and don't. It doesn't happen that often.
Technically I could have logged off sooner, my hand held died and I didn't get to log off until I got back to the yard. We had a truck break down and it was a small catastrophy and a couple of us scrambled to get help to that driver.Last edited: Sep 8, 2016

Well, I got a rather unpleasant refresher in the why-I-actively-avoid-Sysco department today. I wasn't even supposed to be on this load but dispatch asked me to cover it, and silly me, thought how bad could it really be? 1586 cases, 12 cases to a pallet for the most part. All on CHEPs. I had to sling 84 pallets in addition to my product. To add insult to injury, the originating plant loaded the product on in an extremely haphazard manner. Not a good day for the temperament, especially with an outside temp above 95.
Tomorrow promises to be nicer, I get to go drive around the Adirondacks to our route sales depots. No nasty vendors, probably won't see any other people at all. That's ok, the voices in my head are company enough
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
Nothings heavier then a CHEP Pallet. Good god are those things heavy big and cumbersome.

Well how was everyone's day today? Mine was the usual long Friday streetch filled with it's usual victories and defeats. I have to go to bed as I can't stay awake any longer. I don't know about you guys, but come Friday night my battery is drained.
