Ok I'm just wondering if it already has the 500,000 mile/5 year plan purchased and if I buy this, would it be transferable to me? I am thinking more along the lines of when the egr fails at 200-250 or so, or (God forbid) a major warranty claim.

You can purchase the extended warranty still. You have until month 18 to purchase engine warranty and month 12 for chassis

    gokiddogo Thanks this.

Forgive me for asking but what does a chassis warranty cover and how extensive is the cummins Warranty? All after treatment equipment?

Chassis covers only components of the chassis, so window regulator, axle gasket, chassis wiring, etc.

Cummins engine base engine warranty covers pretty much the entire engine, including the aftertreatment.

Aftertreatment warranty is on the cummins side. Once the base warranty expires, if you purchase extended warranty, you'll want to purchase two warranty plans. They have 3 total, but typically only 2 are purchased from Cummins. Protection Plan 1 which will cover your turbo, water pump, etc and Aftertreatment which will cover your NH3 sensor, nox sensor, egr cooler, etc.

So, are there actually 4 extended warranties available?
    1. PB chasis
    2. Cummins engine (PP1)
    3 Cummins aftertreatment (PP2?)
    4. ?

I know that I pm'd Belials last week with some vin#'s and he found that they were all out of warranty except for an HVAC warranty. So I'm assuming that is the other warranty.

There are many different plans. But you have to remember that Peterbilt and Cummins is completely separate.

For example, on the Peterbilt side, you can purchase Extended chassis coverage, which is just an extension of the base warranty. Or you can purchase extended HVAC coverage - which only extends the coverage of the HVAC coverage. Or you can purchase Towing, which provides tow coverage to chassis components. You could also purchase extended suspension warranty.

On the Cummins side, there are basically three major warranty plans : PP1 (Protection Plan 1), PP2, and Aftertreatment.

PP1 and Aftertreatment is often purchased together, mostly because in order to purchase Aftertreatment, you have to purchase PP1.

PP1 on a EPA 2013 will cover your oil pan, EGR cooler, crankshaft, fuel pump, water pump, fuel injectors, ecm, cylinder block, liners, sensors, air compressor, turbo, rocks, plus more

PP2 on a EPA 2013 will only cover your camshaft, cylinder block, egr cooler, oil pump, rockers, fuel pump drive gear (not the pump itself), ecm, cylinder head, oil pan, water pump drive gear, and more.

    PP1 covers more than PP2.

Aftertreatment covers your Nox sensors, NH3 sensor, DPF sensors, HC doser, SCR, DPF, DOC, etc. And in order to purchase Aftertreatment, you have to purchase PP1.

So you can purchase PP1, PP2 and Aftertreatment, but in order to purchase Aftertreatment, PP1 is required.

Cummins does have more warranties other than those 3, but to be truthful, they're not seen very often. Also, some of the warranty options depends on the engine model (ISX, ISL, etc).

On the other side, Paccar MX has very similar options. So similar in fact that in order to purchase Aftertreatment, you used to have to purchase their version of PP1, however that's no longer the case. You can now purchase Aftertreatment for the MX by itself, but a slightly higher cost than if you purchased it along with the Comprehensive coverage.

Everyone here should be thankful of the caliber of members. To have a PACCAR warranty person that is able to answer questions like I see here is an awesome resource. Just sayin

I'm really glad that I only worked on leased units. Considering that I make most of the decisions when it comes to what I write up as warranty/not warranty, It makes it much simpler when I know that all our trucks just have base. Look up the SIR, anything more than 12 months in service and I'm out of warranty.

That warranty stuff is way too big of a headache for my liking.
