I know Catapiller has field service trucks that require CDL also. That could be an option as well. For now I would like to see what a O/O day cab would be like in Oklahoma.
-
In the Midwest they convert sleeper trucks to day cabs. Take off the sleeper, patch the hole, paint it, Cut the frame back, cut the fuel tanks to fit, add a Texas bumper and its ready to roll.
Every farmer in the Midwest has bought a day cab to haul corn to the ethanol plants.
The demand for day cabs is so high, that the prices are high too.Dieselmydrug Thanks this. -
Cab overs are cheap
-
Because daycabs will generally have fewer miles and be in better shape than an otr truck resulting in a better reslae value. They are also more "specialized" because there are more sleepers on the market.Dieselmydrug Thanks this.

You'dthink converting to a fay cap was way moreexpensive.
-
It's relatively inexpensive when considering buting a daycab, either new or used and selling your tried and true truck, but it's also truck dependent. Converting a 379/w900 to a daycab is a whole lot cheaper and easier than converting a t2000. But I get what your saying.
If you want a daycab, then it may be more cost effective to find a cheap sleeper that has a good maintance history, drive it a bit, then convert it.Ruthless Thanks this. -
Besides mileage, what do the hours represent
-
Hours on engine was used. Everything from idle to miles driven. If that engine was on, the computer was tracking it. 20000 hours on an engine is generally near a million miles.
Low miles but high hours means a lot of idle time- either idled every night or pto/pump was used. High miles and high hours signify the truck wasn't idled much, just driven. Low and low is the best to buyDieselmydrug Thanks this. -
Truth,
However, low and low could also mean the truck stayed broke or sat around a lot. This im turn could be back for dry rot im hoses and seals. So be smart and check everything.kw550cat Thanks this.
