Hell, it's just getting broke in! Must be driver error!

At least you still have your good attitude! This will stand you in good stead, if you can just maintain it!
It's trucking, if it can go wrong, you can bet it will.
Whoa that, cowboy! Don't diss on Arizona after just one trip across the desert! Two things here, first off, there IS significant beauty in the desert, but it can take some getting used to! Second, there is such a variety in Arizona, that it takes many years to see it all. How about the Grand Canyon?
I guess some things never change...
Can't argue with any of these statements!
Priorities!
Hick and Broke Down 69 Thank this. -
Sounds like things are going well...
Glad to see you posting!!Hick Thanks this. -
I've been in and out of a few meat houses now and Tyson has the filthiest, smelliest most disgusting places I've seen yet. The smell literally takes a day to get out of your clothes and truck.
Tyson I just went over.
Wal-Mart will park you for days if you're one hour late but will detain you for hours beyond your delivery appointment before even putting you in a dock where you can wait for hours more for lumpers, who you, or in my case, your company has to pay to get around to unloading you. At least their DCs are large and easy to maneuver in,
As far as Swift goes, I don't feel I really need to explain that.
It can become a real trial at times.
It'd be better if I could keep my truck under me but I am doing well and enjoying myself. -
Thanks for the humor and insite @Big Don I sure am glad to have you along.JustWannaBeComfortable, Hick and Big Don Thank this.

Glad to hear from you Broke Down. Sound like things arent going too bad. It's a real eye opener out there -
Hick, ncmickey and Broke Down 69 Thank this. -
Well, on the whole I can't complain to much. I have a good DM, albeit a temporary one, who keeps the loads coming. Not her fault on the mechanical issues. It is an eye opener. Sort of like getting out of boot camp and school and going to the fleet only to find out that everything you'd spent months learning was total crap and having to relearn how things are really done.Last edited: Sep 14, 2016
Hick, Lonesome, bamalife123 and 2 others Thank this. -
Well all, I'll be leaving for KW in about 30 minutes. Since they haven't called I'm pretty sure it isn't ready but off I go, dutifully, to check on progress. If you don't hear from me for a few days you'll know I got back rolling. If you do hear from me later today, well....I guess y'all can figure it out.
bamalife123, Hick, Big Don and 1 other person Thank this. -
As far as Walmart is concerned, I never had to deal with them, with refrigerated. And for the dry vans, it was a simple drop and hook. Then they could unload them at their leisure without interfering with my time.
The stores, on the other hand, were always a real PITA for me. The only time I ever delivered to their stores was local LTL. We might have one or two pallets for them, but by golly, you DID play by their rules. And different stores had different rules.
I'm talking about such BS as parking and going to the man door, ringing the bell and waiting for them to get around answering the bell. And you'd better not ring it more than once....Anyway, once they deign to answer the door, they tell you which door to back into, (what the hell difference does it make, they all work the same.) Once I had a jerk tell me I was going to have to wait until they had unloaded a truck that had an appointment. That truck wasn't even there yet. Needless to say, I took the single pallet back to the dock, but had to work around it doing drops and picks. Then this same jerk has the balls to call and complain that I would cooperate with their policies...
FWIW, that one did not last very long at that store.
Another store it was just fine to back into any open door, go in, pull your pallet off, secure the door and go pull your truck out so somebody else could get in, in the unlikely event they had another truck come in while you were there...then and only then take the bills to the receiver and wait as they unstacked the pallet and checked for damaged cases.
I hated delivery to their stores. Only had three possibilities from our dock, but it was three too many.
Oh yeah, I forgot the one that had receiving hours, 0400 to 1000. Seriously.Hick and Broke Down 69 Thank this. -
What's a good story without a little drama?

My 1st truck had like 550k on it. It would run 64 on the cruise and the high side of 65 on the floor. I broke down alot. But you gotta realize that if you were the one handing out trucks, would your totally new guys get the low miles trucks just so they can flip them in someones corn field on week #1 solo?
They'll take that one out back and shoot it soon.Broke Down 69 and bamalife123 Thank this.
