Personally I don't use cheater bars, unless you count Lucille's in Weatherford. Great waitresses.

If you can break a winch bar, you must be A LOT bigger than I am.

MACK E-6 and bzinger Thank this.

Me too. That's a lot of bar to break with just normal use.

I've broken 2. Neither was younger than me I don't think. Busts right around the weld where the tip anchor sets into the shaft. Push down super hard and boom! Just like breaking a winch off the wagon type of sound. N feel: Gravity takes effect pretty rapidly.

I have one in the truck. One or two in each trailer in the boxes. One in the yard. One in the back of my pickup truck case if I go to strap down a preload somewhere.. Think I only bought the one extra long one with the multi cheater end. Rest were in trailers I've bought, given to me, or found over the years.

@MJ1657 the one I use most often is half bright yellow, and I do it as you had mentioned with bout 18"/2' of yellow hanging off the deck.

I lost a winch bar one time too- right after I cooked my bare hand grabbing an upright exhaust on a boom truck after unloading. Had bar on deck was reaching to open passenger door to put in cab n customer approached behind me and called out to hand me a $20. I turned my head n kept reaching for the door handle, grabbed a fistful of hot exhaust pipe instead.
Guy watched/heard the hiss said oooo ####, tucked the money in my non well done hand n scampered off.
My right hand cooked, I forgot the bar, got in the truck started trying to get that old slug going (I posted a pic of it after seeing it the other day-240 horse, 13 direct) trying to grab gears with a palm the skin is coming off of while I'm barking profanity out the window

That was bout 10 years ago. Pretty ingrained in my mind. Could go right to that guys house today I remember it so vividly. Got maybe 1/4 mile up the road came thru a little s turn n clang ca clang I knew right what it was and honestly didn't even give a ####.
