Do we have chains? What do we do if they flip those signs that say chains required? What about when the highway is closed? Just park and wait? Agh... I'm such a newbie!

The shops have chains. We're not forced to use them, but there are times out west (and west of Denver) that they must be carried, snow or no snow.

And we're only getting these west loads because @Pigbacon is on home time. I think you got his load...and I think they just had the wrong truck number when they gave this load to me...but I accepted it before they could say anything...hehehehe

As far as chaining goes, I don't have an issue with it unless it's bumper deep or deeper, or for ice...then I pretend I never heard of snow chains.

$75 a day vs 500 miles? Hmmm which one should I choose?

You get the chains from Fargo in the truck shop, 3 bags. With respect to using them a few drivers here throw iron (chain), however safely would prefer you park and wait it out (layover pay is included if needed).

A good idea would be to watch the state 511, typically that and the weather forecast will let you know what to expect in the passes.

This past winter was my 1st real winter ever really. Never even seen snow being from South Texas. I remember stepping out of my truck @ Quick Trip in Dakota Mn...-20 windchill just cuts right thru you no matter how many layers of clothes you have on. Felt like a knife.Never forget that feeling...

I have been lucky enough to get some good West loads, several times. Been itching to go to New Jersey and get some pizza!

I'll leave the house in a few days headed for Oregon as long as things stay the same!
