Mobile CB mic

I cant stand the coil cord on the 636, over time they droop and hang to low and swing around when driving, and the chrome cord is way too long. Have you consider the Ranger SRA 198? Its a noise canceling mic and the price is pretty good, mine sounds really good on my Cobra 29 NW LTD.

 

I dont think you will be dissapointed. I have a Galaxy 99v2 that I made a mistake when I first got it and let a cb shop tune it and remove the limiter ( I have since had it put back in and realigned by Clays ) but when the limiter was out and with the talkback on with mic gain wide open, the SRA 198 mic was the only one that I didnt get feedback with, both the RK56 and Astatic 636 there was feedback.

 

There is a video on youtube where a cb shop does mic comparisons on a Roadking radio ( Uniden 78 ) and the 198 does indeed sound the best.

 

The newest RK56s, with that new orange logo on the front, while still overpriced, are not nearly as bad as they had been over the past few years. Seems they finally found a half-decent element to put in them.

 

Do they have anything stamped on the back like Roadking or Turner? I know the 56 that comes included with the Roadking radio is junk. I believe the 198 comes included with the new General Lee and Mirage 36 and 86, Volvo havnt you used the 198 on your Stryker 955?

 

There is a piece of hemp cloth over the mic element I guess equivilent to the sponge in a roadking, I opened mine up and removed it, didnt see the purpose of it, plus may excite drug sniffing dogs at a Texas border checkpoint, LOL, cb guy in council bluffs Ia actually told me that a driver said that happen to him, probably just a truckers tale.
