Spreads over 6' are considered one axle in the western 4 provinces in Canada. The are fine out east. Something to do with too many guys dumping the rear axle In the turns and tearing up the roads. That's how the story was told to me.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
The little dog chain on end and the 5/16 wll stamp. Has to be minimum 3/8.toss009 Thanks this.

So your saying 5/16 chain isn't allowed in Canada ?MJ1657 Thanks this.

Isnt recognized. Kinda like the 10'2 spread.johndeere4020 Thanks this.

IIRC 20,000 for the set, 10K each.
Absolutely useless for most loads. -
This is not correct. The only time 5/16 cannot be used is in the following two cases (as well as all tiedowns must have a marked WLL):
National Safety Code for Motor Carriers
Standard 10: Cargo Securement
PART 2 - SPECIFIC SECUREMENT REQUIREMENTS BY CARGO TYPE
Division 5 - Concrete Pipe
80 Tiedowns for securing layers of small concrete pipes
(3) Where each pipe is not secured individually with a tiedownDivision 7 - Vehicles as Cargo
(a) one 1.27 centimetre (1/2 inch) diameter chain or wire rope or two 0.95 centimetre (3/8 inch) diameter chains or wire ropes shall be placed lengthwise over the group of pipes...
89 Heavy vehicles
(4) Despite section 22, a heavy vehicle with crawler tracks or wheels shall be restrained against moving sideways, forward, rearward and vertically by at least 4 tiedowns,
(a) each with a working load limit of at least 2 268 kilograms
“heavy vehicle” means
(i) a vehicle that weighs more than 4 500 kilograms, or
(ii) equipment or machinery that operates on wheels or tracks and weighs more than 4 500 kilograms;
