Ill try to make this short as possible. Last week driving 09 cascadia 67 mph cruise control and the cruise shut off and so i pressed down on the pedal and nothing, no checking engine lights codes or anything, didn't run rough or cough nothing. Pulled over my mechanic came out after some either got it started and it ran then idled for about 15 min. while he checked all the pressure and looked for codes and there was not 1 code. So we changed the filters and same stuff wouldn't start but after some time and either started and idled for a few then i hit the pedal and she died. He was lost said there was nothing pointing him anywhere to look next so i towed it to detroit. After a few days they call and say it has a collapsed sping in the fuel pump and thats the problem.
Ok 2 days later"today" He calls and said it still won't start because it won't build fuel pressure in the rail and they need more test. So hours later he calls and said i had 2 problems the fuel pump and the number 6 injector. They ran it on 5 cylinders at a time and checked each one and number 6 was bleeding the fuel pressure out thats why it won't start. Now I will admit i don't know a lot about these new DD15 but is it me or does it seem odd that it had 2 problems at the same time and yet the injector which it electrical did not throw a code at all or run rough or hard start or anything prior tho this?? Also during there diag they tried a MCM and a ECM and both were good on my truck. I don't think Detroit would ## me but it just seems odd like maybe it was just the injector all along but if so why no code??? I really don't know but just seems weird....
Any input please.
Thanks
Need a little help fellow drivers or mechanics please

i can not tell you what is wrong with your truck but I have been down that road a lot farther then you are in.
When they suggest to change something ask them if that will fix the problem. If you agree to it then you have verbally authorized weather it fixes the truck or not.G13Tomcat, Highrisk21 and wore out Thank this. -
Typically codes are set when a parameter exceeds its pre-programmed range. Since its not tripping a code and if fuel pressure is good, I would attack it as an electrical issue. The one thing that sticks out in my mind would be a fault in the ignition circuit since simply turning off the key shouldn't throw a code. Not sure if ECM power/ground issues would trip codes on those though.
G13Tomcat and Highrisk21 Thank this. -
Yeah it sucks but if I get a call tomorrow and its something else it won't be a good day for me or them. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like a potential ECM issue. Did the guages go dead and come back when the pedal went dead? Check for bad ground lead to the ECM.
I feel your pain. I just dumped $5400 to CAT for new ECM, $1100 for 2 different tows. Truck is at Freightliner now and looking at a $2000 bill with them and I still need 8 new drive tires.

They tried a new ecm and mcm with no luck. Gauges never went dead all were still working as I was coasting to a stop. I feel your pain I was planning on this money for 10 new tires. Unfortunately that's how it goes sometimes. Good luck on your ride.Hurst Thanks this.
