The Note has about the worst cell reception out there. I still love mine as a phablet, but it is sub par as a cell phone...

I have the Note4 and that area of WV is probably the worst for Verizon coverage. Its not overly horrible,.. but there are a lot of dead zones when dropping down in between the valleys and mountains. The signal comes right back within a mile or so.
I can say this,.. compared to Tmobile or Sprint,.. the Verizon coverage for that area is much much better. When the Verizon signal drops,.. I'm pretty certain that no one else will have a signal in that spot either. It has more to do with the terrain than actual carrier service area.
@double yellow My Note3 and Note4 phones have as good or better cell reception as my S4, S5 and HTC EVO ever had. I honestly dont have a problem with signal reception with the Note phones and mine are getting pretty dated compared to the newer phones. I never had the Note2 so I can not compare it to those. But the Note3 and Note4 are very good phones. Only reason I got the Note4 was because I broke the screen on my Note3 and the Verizon store I went to only had white Note3 phones,.. I wanted the black. So I bought the Note4. My wife has had her Note4 since they first came out.
I really like the specs of the Note7,.. but not getting one until they get the battery situation sorted out. I'm not paying for a Note7 if they keep the battery capacity castrated to 60%. The 2 main features I liked about the phone was the new camera for low light pics and the battery capacity. I'll skip it like I did the Note5 if they dont get it sorted out.
Hurstrocknroll81 Thanks this. -
I have the Note 5 as my main phone.
And the Note 3 on my other line.
Happy with both.
Note 7 I'll skip it and wait for the 8. Or 9 if they skip another number. Lol. -
That's what i do with my sprint note2,. It's my gps, mp3, and dashcam. For awhile i even had it activated. For the unlimited internet. Till I got the Verizon s6 and an extra 18 gigs of internet per month as a bonus. And stopped spending the nights at the yard since verizon in that town was only good enough for phone calls. Internet was sketchy at best.
That sprint phone got a lot better coverage towards the end then it did in the beginning. 4 years ago. -
My note 3 gets the job done, but it drops calls a lot more often than the cheap android it replaced -- which in turn dropped calls more often than the old single-function flip phones. Maybe it would be better without the otter box, but I'm clumsy enough to need it...
I love it for everything else -- I only need to get my laptop out maybe once a week these days... But if I was a big talker, I'd probably want something else.
Examples (these 4 guys are the bulk of my calls):
-
I was still with Nextel and had just crossed over from Cingular the last time I had a flip phone. I was burning through too many mins. Everyone I knew back then was on Nextel so the touch to talk feature saved me a lot of money.
Problem was Nextel signal was so flakey,.. you could walk 4 ft,.. have no signal,.. walk back to where you placed the call and have a signal. That was an old Motorola phone. I thought I was king poop when I got my first flip phone.
When Sprint took over Nextel I went with the Blackberry phones. Besides really good email,.. they suck at everything else. I was on an S3 or S4 right before I switched over to Verizon from Sprint.
I have the Otterbox on mine also. The one time I took my Note3 out of the case to clean the dust and crap that was collecting under it,.. I dropped it and broke the screen. Go figure right? I dont think the Otterbox effects Verizon signal. I've been using them for a few years now and have not noticed any difference in signal quality with or with out the cover.
Maybe your CB booster is causing interference? I noticed less static and such after I pitched my CB through the windshield. (Dont ask).
Hurstdouble yellow Thanks this. -
i should probably try that trick of removing my battery case. See if i get signal again.
My phone goes dead within a 2 mile radius of home. Really sucks at concerts when you're trying to find the people. Which is a mile away from home. -
Along that stretch at a small service plaza I never got internet signal but my phone i got signal,go figure.rocknroll81 Thanks this.

I have Verizon. The only part of WV Turnpike I don t have service is from MM 60-72. That s a dead zone for every cellphone company. I ve had them all
rocknroll81 and free spirited1 Thank this. -
I get a lot of dropped connections when I'm in metro areas. I've had 3 different phones from different manufacturers in the past two years so it's not a hardware issue.
