Depends on where you work, I guess. I know they base their pay off of location, but I made $55K in upstate NY when they were advertising $48K. But that all depends on how much freight they have. They kept me pretty busy a year and a half ago.

I'd love to move anywhere between Richmond and Virginia Beach. I have yet to get my CDL. I will probably go to Abilene for my first year to get OTR experience. Just considering future options right now. I would love to have a home on weekends job (home friday night or saturday morning and gone monday morning) while still making $50K.
-
In Albany, I was home everyday. You won't necessarily be off on the weekends though. I had a Tue-Sat schedule, other people had Thur-Mon, or even Mon-Fri.
-
That doesn't matter. I just want my 2 days off for fishing. Would prefer weekdays off. Less people on the river, easier to manage doctor's appointments, etc.

I do local intermodal and made over 50k. I work M-F. I'm paid by the HUB mile and per stop. It's very easy to make over 50K. I only work 10-11 hours a day. We have guys that max out their 14 hours daily and make 60k+.
RookieJ1987, matt1502 and Drtro Thank this. -
Ha haha haha haha haha haha haha haha!!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious! Why not just for hourly... I have a friend that used to work for them. They're crap.
-
Yeah we're just total crap over here. All 6,281 of us. It's just amazing how we are total crap but yet the largest Intermodal carrier in America and growing everyday. I just hate making such a decent paycheck and being home every night doing such a gravy job. It's so horrible having to drop and hook all these trailers every day.Aamcotrans, RookieJ1987, JOHNQPUBLIC and 1 other person Thank this.
-
That's right. I forgot to add they pay hub miles too.RookieJ1987 and DavidBrownTrucking Thank this.

You're right. Better to get hourly with overtime and spend half the day waiting at grocery warehouses lol. If I got paid by the mile it'd be well over $1/mi lol. I've looked into JB and it can't touch the job i have... Home every night, overtime, two weeks vacation and two pto days the first year... With brand new peterbilt.
