Second post, first new thread. First and foremost, thanks to all for the info I have gathered here over the last few months. I am going to school within the next month to obtain my CDL after selling my business.
So I had my physical this morning in order to obtain my learner's permit in the coming week or two. I have sleep apnea and use my CPAP machine daily. It makes a major difference in quality of life. The info here was very helpful but I ran into a few issues. When checking my machine for the session usage rate (> 4 hours at 70%), it came back with 12 sessions. 12 sessions in 6 years!!!!! This is not correct and am going to schedule a visit with the ENT doc to discuss getting a new machine. I suspect this one is not working properly. It will take at least one to two weeks to be seen by a doctor, possibly issued a new machine and then I start all over again with readings. The problem is that I only have another three weeks to get my physical and permit before school starts. But in the meantime...
As expected, the medical examiner needed a printout of the CPAP usage rates and asked that I come back in 30 days. They will issue a "temporary card" until I provide the CPAP info in 30 days. When I get home, I see that both the Medical Examination Report Form AND the Medical Examiner's Certificate are marked valid for one year and signed off by the physician.
So did they make a mistake by issuing me the full 1 year card? Or will they wait on me to return in 30 days before filing the Report and Certificate in the Registry? I know my copies go to the License Examiner when I obtain my permit but where does their copies go?
Thanks!

The less you deal with those DOT medical people, the better off you are. That's just my opinion...
G13Tomcat and Tux&Trucks Thank this. -
I had the same issues, the machine was good the card went bad. I got extra cards and swap them out after each dot.

Their copies go in their file. Your copy goes to the dmv when you get your permit.
I wouldn't say anything. Take the 1 year and smile.
You shouldn't have mentioned the sleep apnea in the first place.Tux&Trucks and Chinatown Thank this. -
In trucking you'll learn fast not to volunteer information about anything.
Take the one year card and get in school. Deal with the rest of it before graduation.Tux&Trucks and alghazi Thank this. -
Thanks for the input, everyone. To the DMV I go and then off to school!
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
Shop carefully for your first job out of school. Many drivers that don't succeed made the mistake of taking the first job offer or job the school pushed on them. There's dozens of companies to choose from you won't hear anything about in cdl school job placement.
