I am considering buying a 1999 Western Star 4964 and am wondering if anyone with a similar truck could tell me how much the tractor by itself might weigh. Here are the basic specs.

    260" wheelbase
    CAT 3406E
    13 speed
    73" sleeper
Rockwell 2145 rears on Hendrickson air ride
Not sure about the frame thickness
    TIA

Westernstars generally are a heavy truck. All steel cab and build to take abuse. If i had to guess i bet 21,000-22,000lbs. The only way to tell forsure is to scale it, but if a light truck is what your after buy a frieghtliner. They dont stay together but there light. Lol

The one we had from that vintage was over 21,000 lbs. Then again the last time I drove it was in 08.

Thanks for the info. 21K is more last W900L but I certified won't be buying a self disassembling Freightliner.

Unfortunately they don't list it on the tag and it's 250 miles away so I'm trying to avoid wasting my time going to see it if it's going to be too heavy.

Do you have the vin?? Can the dealer email you a built sheet?? I got one for a pete I was looking at and it listed a shipping weight from the factory.

My '06 4900EX Lowmax is pretty light. 244" WB, 14L Detroit, 13 speed, 40K rears, 68" Stratosphere bunk, 250 gallons of fuel, 11R 22.5 rubber, 19,200lbs. I've been told that the Lowmax is quite a bit lighter than the regular 4900EX, which is again a bit lighter than the older 4964s. 21K is probably not far off.

Thanks for the replies, all. A local guy who's selling an '07 model let me put it on the scale yesterday. It weighed it at about 20,500 with a Detroit and a 10 speed. I'm probably going to pass on the truck regardless because I found one I like better anyway.
