So I am halfway done with school. I applied to Transam, and after recieveing a phone call the lady asked me a few questions and said she would try to get my application approved. Literally the next day I heard back and it was approved. She said as soon as I get done with school call her to set up orientation!!. Now I have a 3 year old dui. So am I basically hired? i'll go to orientation take a road test.. then be hired? After applying for 30 some companies this is the ONLY one that I got a prehire SO I don't want to mess this up. I really want this job.

Trans am is not that picky a guy on here that had a felony charge a few years ago is the now I believe.
survivorman Thanks this. -
Take the job, you're fortunate with a DUI that young. Don't do the lease with any company, be a company driver and you will do ok. When they give the lease lecture during orientation, just patiently sit through it, then ignore it and be a company driver.
You're hired if you pass the urine test!ethos, Lucy in the Sky, RedRover and 3 others Thank this. -
Yeah don't lease unless you want to be bankrupt and in a whole mess of stuff.
Florida Playboy, White_Knuckle_Newbie and Chinatown Thank this. -
I would say your good, which terminal are you going to? My friend is out of Rockwall, she left Swift about a year ago to go there and loves it because she just does Texas Regional and home two to three days out of the week. She tried to get me on thier and the lady just told me right now they just hired two for Texas Regional but I could keep checking up, then I got a call two hours later saying I lived too far out of Metroplex. I hear the average is $600-$800 a week but if your home in your on bed two to three days out of the week that's not bad starting because they also have apu's and satellite tv I think icebox as well.
RedRover Thanks this. -
$600-800, that's only $40k a year.

Nobody should lease a truck until they've been a driver for 2 years. What are you going to do if you hate the job? File bankruptcy I guess. It's a stepping stone until you grab the next best branch man.
TruckDrivingtn, Lucy in the Sky and Florida Playboy Thank this. -
If I had to do it over again I'd take that job at trans am. At least if you sit you can watch some tv. With a 3 year old dui that's going to be your best. Seems to be an ok starting gig. And yes do not lease a truck from a company, save some cash for a few years, raise your credit if you need to and get a truck from a dealership or a bank. Don't get stuck in a 5 year lease from a company that you know nothing about.
And even if you do know about your company after 2 years, you still won't know if they will run you after a truck purchase. You want the freedom to pack up and move with your truck if things get bad, which in most companies always happens after you sign your life for a given time. -
Problem is is that I don't want to go home I don't want an apartment or anything I want to live in the truck and just keep rolling atleast for 5 to 10 years. Maybe one day I will meet the lady of my dreams(which seems to be every cute girl willing)lmfao.. but for now im free of family responsibilities and just wanna get trucking.. I honestly don't even care about pay but 600 to 800 a week is still more than im making now and I pay rent now.. sooo id get ahead and be happier for the most part.. lonely, but ive been lonely for years so it will not matter. I hear there a women around truck stops that can give a lonely trucker some company right? lol
but yeah I talked to the lady about going OTR and that's that. -
my credit is 720ish how high will it need to be to finance a truck because that's what I ultimately want to do one day.. more money and I make the schedule IM THE BOSS. haha
