720 is solid, you would be fine, you won't get 3 %, but you certainly would not get 23% either. You want to save as much cash as possible for a down payment and have at least 10k saved for anything repairs should they arise.

Your best bet is to take a bank loan and buy a truck with a million miles. It might not be what you want but it's what you need. Trucking is stepping stones. You can find a trucker ready to retire willing to sell for less than his truck is worth, just make sure you get it looked at before yoh purchase.

It also costs a few grand to get tag, title, insurance. Some companies will buy them for you but most of those pay less per mile than your potential. Remember, if your a new driver and have no previous w2 for trucking it will be harder to get a loan for a truck and to get hired on, even if you own the truck.

Just keep working your way up dude. After 3 years experience you can easily make like 1300 a week working 50 hours a week. I started out at the very bottom, but eventually got into hauling fuel tankers. Even now, on a bad week I make only $1100 for 48 hours of work. Set your goals high, and don't let anything hold you back from making that paper.

I'd like that (post tax, 4 days).
I'm getting reamed out here. The kicker is: I know it.

The reason that companies talk about gross pay is because that is what they pay you.

Your tax burden is yours, it is not mine. We can make the exact same gross and very different net based on our individual tax situation. It varies by State. Some carriers do not even withhold State tax so you are liable for the full amount.

The poster said 4 - 5 days, but I do agree money isn't everything. If you're happy with making that, sounds like a good job for you.

I thought the poster said with three days home time. Some people do otr and don't run hard, making 800 to stay out :/
