I'm having a similar issue with a DDEC-V 14 liter Series 60. It only has the Davco for fuel filtration. Back in July put a set of injectors in it because it was losing its prime. Fuel in the Davco and the tanks was kinda dark. Now I'm having the same issue again and it was getting progressively worse. Hit the tanks with Biocide, no difference. Fuel in the Davco and the tanks is now so black you can't see through it at all. It's in the shop to get injectors done again under warranty and flush the tanks. Either the injectors were poorly installed or there was a bad one in the pack. Combustion pressure can get past the o rings, into the head and back to the tanks. Shop I'm dealing with says it's not that unusual to get one or more bad injectors brand new in the box.

If it was losing its prime u might want to check the 'check valve' behind the engine. My was losing prime too until I changed that check valve.
