Lol, Rusty gets pulled over 5 miles down the road.
Cop: "Driver, you know you're oversized?"
Rusty: "Whattya mean, my trailer is 102"?"
Cop: "Ya, but that canopy you're trying to deliver is about 15'!"KillingTime and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -
Yes...it will be on your DAC...why do you think they have you sign an "Acknowledgement Sheet"?
Like China said...check your DAC before you apply anywhere. If it's not on there, say nothing. If it's on there, own up to it as an "Incident" that you were required to acknowledge, but were not charged for. And 'minimize' the damage in your response. -
Often times those companies that use DAC don't bother with putting things on it until you give notice that you are quitting. So make sure you have a new job found and that they have done all their checking before you give notice. And depending on the laws in your state, don't give notice. Find the new job, and then just make sure you return the truck and trailer to the proper place in the proper condition. And hit it. Don't give them time to get upset and flame your DAC file.

Good call!!!

It actually went down in slow motion.
Like in the movie it's a mad mad mad world when Jonathan Winters destroys the gas station.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
My spouse rubbed a pole holding up "Our" Canopy and I said to her stop! in a command voice. She stopped instantly. It creaked. The mark is still on that pole almost 20 years and rusting quietly. Tornadoes did not kill it but we almost did.Rusty Trawler Thanks this.

Let me understand the logic.....if you JUST rubbed a pole with your own $ 75,000 Cobalt boat & trailer would you report THAT as an accident........or just "put a little caulk on it" and call it good......now try to rationalize the difference.
Like someone said earlier....."own you own crap" -
If I rubbed that with a boat? WAL... nothing that a little bos'uns chair and time over side fixing it wont fix.

I just want to add something to this thread before it is retired. Twenty years ago if no one was looking and you made any contact chances were you got away with it. Today just about every business has surveillance camera's pointing all over their property. Back in 2014 there was a girl taken by a man in Charlottesville Va. The only real reason the perp got caught was all the business's around the downtown area had camera's and all the police had to do was follow them. I recommend highly you report ALL contacts to your safety dept. A friend of mine made contact with another trailer in 2015 at a drop yard in Alabama. All he really did was scratch some paint. He did not report it and a few days afterward his safety dept called him and told him he was being routed back to a terminal. When he got there he was told to clean out his tractor because he was fired. He found out via a phone call the people that run the business had sent video of the incident to his company. He did not get fired because of the incident, he got fired because he did not report it. Today this friend is operating a yard tractor because he can't find a company that will hire him because of the non report. In today's climate you are playing Russian Roulette with your job and career by not reporting things. Because of the thousands of people whom are NOT qualified to drive for whatever reason that has did all the destruction over the last few years the carriers are getting tougher and tougher. Anybody in these forums that advise a driver to lie by omission is NOT giving good advice, period!
Edited to add something else to think about. Most of the youtube video's you see were made from gopro camera's. A lot of drivers leave their's on even on hometime because their APU will keep the batteries charged and they draw little current. I have seen many gopro video's that will never be posted on youtube. I know a company that used to have a camera mounted inside a woreout reefer trailer just to get a good angle on the drop yard. The chances of going into ANY drop yard, terminal or truck stop with an active surveillance system in place is almost 100% these days.Last edited: Sep 26, 2016
