Mine is a advantage 55 ton. With the (door style ) height adjustment. I would prefer the new style ratchet style. I have a 3rd way to adjust height if needed. Also run a ponymotor. I carry extra airline fittings and sparkplug and gas. In my situation I prefer the ponymotor. Comes in handy if you breakdown and get another truck to pull the trailer. Have had my Honda motor for 7 yrs. Never let Mr down yet. Knock on wood!

Does the neck still use the doors just with the different notches? Yours probably has the little flip extensions on top of the doors I'm guessing.

Yep, just built some flat bar extentions to raise it higher.

I did that also even built one to hang on the door like the factory did. I really like the way Fontaine and XL build their ratchets and it looks like TK is finally going that way too.

My TK with the commercial neck has upside down doors and three positions. It sucks because the three notches just aren't enough adjustment.

    1. Why a 45 ton trailer and not a 55 ton? IMO, I like to always buy more than you need, that way, if you need to go higher is weight, it's there. If you buy too small, and chance it, it could be costly/dangerous. I'd go for the bigger capacity unless there is a specific need.

    2. Things I would carry if I had one would be spare hoses, spare valves. (Up/Down, adjustment, etc) I would think after winter salt, and usage, and the cold, these valves would not be too reliable seeing how most of them are exposed to the elements.

Re Ethanol, I have heard many people say that ethanol caused the pony motors to either fail or get gummed up or just plain not usable.

Yea the Honda motors don't like corn in the gas.. maybe some rice mixed in, but no grain based gas

Had that issue when I was out in iowa. That dang 20% corn syrup had my little Honda coughing and fart in.
