Oh, we back up all right. It's just that most our top 10 backs are in places and situations where only rattlesnakes and coyotes get to witness it. If folks see it they don't think it's such a big deal to back a mile on a fresh plowed "road" after a rain storm while weaving around equipment and avoiding crushing drainage pipe.

McElroy send a couple recruiters to my school, I almost went with them they claim to get you home almost every weekend and the pay was good vs the others coming in.

I got a rule with stuff like that, my job gives ME money, I don't give it to my job.

Putting money in escrow at flatbed companies is nothing new. I put up 1200.00 way back in 93. But it was a great job and they had no problems finding drivers.

I used to drive for Maverick. They do offer excellent flatbed securement training. I felt very prepared when I started. They do have only automatic trucks so bear that in mind. I did successfully make the transition to 13 speed (and sometimes 18 speed) when I left so it can be done. I would focus more on places that give you good securement training and Maverick definitely has that. Good luck!

Yea the backing up that Lepton1 Referred to....

Those ten foot spreads with the rear bags empty, you get to being really aggressive in backing when necessary. That Forward spread carries all the weight back there sometimes. Ive asked quite a bit of that Ravens and frankly it did not break. Like some of the Fuehaufs have.

You will discover getting into a shipper, then a 52,000 pound coil larger than your tractor is set getting out is a life changing experience sometimes.
