Read all the paperwork you signed. They can garnish your wages.

Not in every state. Most states laws a persons pay isn't garnished except for back taxes, child support. It varies by state.

I was contracted to Prime and ended a few weeks early (had a job opportunity at home I couldn't refuse - in hindsight, my employer would have let me wait another 2 weeks no problem). Prime took some cash from my last paycheck, but, i still got a pretty hefty last paycheck (turning in my load securement stuff, tire chains, etc.)

Hire an attorney in the binding state. Better yet hire a contract law attorney.

I understand I'll still owe a portion of the tuition still, but I mean is it something where I couldn't get another job because of it?

Depends on who you try to hire onto. Some will actually help you to pay it, others will look at it like credit card debt, and some still wont touch you under a no compete contract with your first company

I'm asking because this is a life situation thing that has come up, would my starter company be able to accommodate a leave of absence? That way I wouldn't have to worry about the contract.
