Yeah what's with that? I know when I pass you don't blind me with some high beam action. I usually turn mine off if I want to let someone know they've passed me.

I would just hit my running lights so I wouldn't blind anyone.

Agreed... build in extra time, if possible.

A good nap is better than a cup of coffee... each works for different stages. Seeing better doesn't matter if you are not alert enough to react to what you are seeing.

As to GPS, I normally run mine in the North Up option... but at night I turn it to the Heads Up option... allows you to know what curves are coming before you can actually see them.

I hear ya, but I got enough chicken lights don't even need headlights. Plus, everyone needs to learn to drive in the dark in case 'Charlie' is after them. That's how my dad did it in Nam.

Do you smoke? Smoking reduces capillary diamter, restricted blood flow reduces retinal effectiveness which is most noticeable in low light. You can recover most of any night vision loss after a few weeks or months.

Red least effects the rod receptors in the eye - those mostly responsible for night and peripheral vision. Knowing this you'd think most auto manufacturers would make their instrument cluster alight this way.... Then I see a new Honda zip by with an admixture of blue and white on the cluster turned to full bright - the worst illumination for your night vision because it activates the cone receptors and represses the rods ability to function.
I'll never quite understand why little practical things like this aren't applied to the general public... I mean, neuroscience figured it out. The military has apparently figured it out. I think Suzuki figured it out (my sX4 is a solid mass of red). After market stereo manufacturers have granted you the ability to figure it out (adjustable / customizable illumination)... Why not Honda, or the more common consumer vehicle manufacturers?

    Love neuroscience, Trooper.
Unfortunately my GRE's... 10 years ago now, were only average and that didn't appeal to anybody... I prob should have double-majored: Psych and Bio, instead of major-minored: Psych and Phil.

Hind-sight, always 20-20. Especially when using red light in the dark. :p
