I am clueless about some of the DOT laws. Now any other traffic laws and I am good to go.

As a driver, he should know his rig. Part of knowing your rig is knowing your axle weights empty and where the center of the trailer is to load it properly. See, that OOS hurts bad. He's stuck at a scale and may possibly have to sit on that load all weekend. That's quite a bit of money lost, even for a company driver. It was a rookie mistake, but too many of those will cost a job.MACK E-6 and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this.

Yeah I knew how to adjust pretty much everything when I drove including the breaks etc.

Some of us get paid for what we know as well as what we do.TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this.

You can't make money sitting or broke down.

Everything we can.
It is diverse fleet, vans to flats to HH. I got a bunch of trailers with my last deal, most are scrap but a few are new and a couple are very specialized like a crane trailer which is going on a deticated route for a while.
I decided a while ago not to be tied to one company or one type of freight, it seems to work for me. And the drivers I hire are usually good doing a few things and can move from one or another trailer without any issues.TripleSix and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
And this post is what makes Six a top hand. Rather than diarrhea of the mouth about what he shoulda done prior. Provide useful information to help a guy from getting in the same situation twice.Dave_in_AZ, MACK E-6, MJ1657 and 3 others Thank this.

I don't think he is anymore. I get the impression from his first post this has happened been resolved and he is just wanting to know if there will be issues from the OOS later on.

Everyone goofs. Slim realizes that he trusted a shipper to load him correctly. I doubt he will ever do it again. With the determination not to make this same goof again, let's teach the man to be able to load the trailer correctly. He will be a better, more complete driver.
A pallet is what...4 ft long? If you are getting 18 pallets, and the load is to be 44000lbs, you can figure out how to load the pallets to get the axle weights exactly the same, if you know how to find the center of the trailer to load.Last edited: Sep 30, 2016
