Decided im doin everything all from scratch..Watching vids on solder iron tinning and proper soldering for my 6 ga wire that gonna go direct to battery..Its on a junction box on the fire wall now..

I get a low swr as shown a few times..Even my r/x #'s are good...My r is usually a few points high and my x is a cpl points low but now i see my ant set up has a lot of capacitance...So now its somethin else i gotta try and understand..Yes i know i have little to no counterpoise either..

ok well thanks to you and ridgeline I'm going to pickup a 5ft. firestik it should put me just 2" shorter than where I'm at now. the curiosity of a top loaded antenna and the fact that I ran a fiberglass Wilson many years ago with good results. I've gotta try it. won't be able to run my amp with it but boo hoo I don't run it all the time any way.... as much $$$$ as I've got in this equipment what's the cost of a firestik. ...... only certain people on here I really pay attention to their posts anyhow....... !!!!!

For Quick and easy I'd run the single dipole on the driver side. If I wanted to complicate it, I'd run stacked dipoles outside the fairings.
