Cant do it anymore

This is true, but the young people say no one will hire them because they only hire experienced people.
What employers really want, is a 22 year old, with 30 years experience, willing to work for minimum wages, or less...

 

Young people can't get good jobs because their are very few available. The older generations had it good in decades past. Nowadays buying a house and starting a family is simply not a financially achievable task for a young person. It's easy for an older person with a comfy pension, social security, and paid off house to look down at a 25 year old living with two roommates but that's all he can afford making $9 an hour.

 

Anybody that is a parent or a grandparent has to see and understand the situation. Hell much of my generation was not only out on their own, but with a wife and kids to support, while still in their teens.
Do to the economy, it's not terribly unusual to see unmarried people still living with their parents into their thirties.

 

You can get medication to take care of that.

 

Yes, you can find underemployment for $9 or $10 but you'll be living in constant poverty. If you're lucky enough to make it to 65 years of age hopefully SS will still be around. As that will be the only lifeline you'll have to keep from working until you're dead.

 

How does one "decide" to be successful?

 

Hemroids anyone. Off road is the true test of your inards. Lower back would be sore for weeks. Finally said f this and got in a air ride on the pavement. I was in heaven.

Back when I was fresh out of high school I worked at a country club on the golf course. It was a actually a pretty cool job. The old timers there that made a career out of it owned their own homes, put their kids through college, and generally lived the "American dream". By the time I started there, the idea of staying until I retired and making a good living at it were all but gone. Inflation (housing,food, and transportation costs) had risen significantly faster than the wage to do the job did. It was plain to see that I wouldn't get far if I stayed, which is how I got into trucking.

Such a shame, too. While I for the most part like trucking, I really enjoyed the work on the course. I would have been in better shape for my age [48] as well, if I'd have stayed, but it just wasn't possible.
