beautiful pete bob.
i am hoping to get around to re-painting my truck this winter. iv got a lot of clear coat peeling on my truck. still looks good from a distance but it bothers me. i had already added a lift axle to my truck a couple years ago but eventually i will probably still stretch it. put the lift on with the factory wheel base it works good but i do a lot of bridge law work and a little more wheelbase would help me out.
your right about worthless shops and so called mechanics i do all my own work on my truck anymore for that reason.

Just an update for my friends... I needed to have my fuel injector pump rebuilt as back in 2011 one of the pins in the #2 plunger came loose and scored the rail rod and housing. I had a "thought he knew it all" mechanic in El Paso repair it... When he did, he turned the pressure down so the rail rod wouldn't travel as far cutting my power and response without my knowledge. I had it turned up by the "thinks he knows it all mechanic" in San Marcos, Tx. who did the cutoff stretch who I wish I'd not trusted to do anything right. This caused the rail rod to stick in the wide open fuel position and the shut down position because of the added travel of the rod. This guy basically said "your problem" and left me limping the truck back home 350 mls. Adding insult to injury was the right steer brake can that was left loose causing the self slack to tighten to the point I rounded of the new adjusting nut trying to back it off... I ended up having to remove the slack adjuster on the side off the 75 ml. an hour freeway to move it. After I painted it Rush Pete in Midland recommended a guy in Midland that used to work for them to rebuild the pump. This guy gave me a week and a half time frame and after 5 weeks of this guy scanning my calls and not returning any messages or emails I called from a different phone and he promptly returned the call not knowing it was me. I told him I'd be there in two days to pick it up and was met with resistance of it not being finished. I arrived to find the engine at the tear down point with 4 different pumps laying around. When someone asks me if there's a good mechanic in TX... My answer is emphatically "NO!" This is a FACT. I spoke to a guy in Buffalo, NY. who builds custom 600+ Cat pumps for approx. $6000 with the injector nozzles. He also sells Bosch pumps for $17000 which will take a 3406 to 800hp. I suggest going this route rather than messing with all the idiots I've dealt with in the last years if your running a mechanical pump, he has 40 years experience and all he does is Cat. At the loss of $10,000 a week net on this truck, even a $17,000 pump is cheap, and still a deduction from the waste of government. Everybody please take care and keep your eyes open. I'll keep keep you posted. Bob

Couldn't reuse the stock air cans, they were already bondoed up once and when I took out the mud the cans almost fell apart... I do have some beautiful top hats for anyone interested in the stock look... can tops are good also. I do believe Rick is the guy I've talked to also. Can anyone fill me in on their issues with him...? Thanks, Bob
rank Thanks this. -
I used an acrylic urethane primer by The Restoration Shop sold by TCP Global... This stuff is bullet proof... Shoot this product with a 1.8 tip to get it to lay out smooth... reducer is optional with this product...

Anyone interested in the top hats can have a new set of filters for the cans in the deal... I've also got undercab stainless light strips and same for under 63" bunk, stock cowl skirts... and some other misc. stock parts... I wanted to bring this truck more to the custom build side...
