Mic's can make all the difference. I just wired up a 636L for my 2970n4. HUGE difference in the sound quality versus the SRA-158 it came with.

I'll miss the channel up/down buttons being on the mic but not the crappy sound.

For those of you wondering how to test different mic's, I just plugged in my little Cobra 19DX in the sleeper with no antenna connected. I set my cell phone on top of it and used the voice recorder app.

Cover the setup with blankets and pillows to block ambient noise, then test away.

 

certain radios sound better with different mics that's 4 sure

But that da... truck is giving headache to everyone who has to live with.

I think all of us have issues with certain things on these trucks...just depends on what we are getting into on a individual basis ..!!!

Finally got a decent test of my Fine Tuned® N4. I talked to a guy on a Connex 3300 in Brunswick, GA until just over the Florida line--about 35 miles. Pretty good, I'd say.
