They add some interesting variety. None of the ones I've seen were all that bad. Certainly not easy, but I've ran into bigger challenges above ground. I've been to the ones in Carthage twice, and to the actual "Springfield underground". I've posted pics somewhere on here. I don't count the ones where I docked on the outside (Warrenton.)
It beats downtown Chicago or Brooklyn anyday.

Not only backing. Some of the turns are pretty close quarters as well.

Oh yay, Jurupa has had a rash of accidents with freshly upgraded students. Apparently both backing and traffic. Don't have the breakdown. My DM is calling the mentors in his fleet.

There were no mt's at Inver Grove for today's load so I was sent 72 miles to a Walmart DC in WI. to get one.
It is the nearest mt, I was told.
It was one of the older 53x trailers, and there were problems. Inspection and PM were way overdue, 2 bad tires and a bad signal light - at first glance.
I was told to bring it back to Inver Grove to get it fixed for my load.
After an hour in the shop I went to check on it. I was told to park it and find a different trailer. This one needed so much done that it being retired - like all the other 53x trailers, they were too expensive to keep in service any longer.
I think it had been sitting at Walmart for some time and they wanted it gone. The task was assigned to me.
Lucky me.
After hours wasted I asked if I could bt to my pick up and was allowed to do so.
So I'm on my way to MS, and still within the delivery window. But it has been a frustrating day.
Right now I'm at the Center Point truck stop in IA. -
Zen ... 75 miles out, 75 miles back ... 150 miles of pay you wouldn't have had if there was an mt in the yard.
-
But Swift wanted that trailer back.
If there was a trailer in the yard I could have used that time to drive more than 150 miles, don't you think?
I would have picked up at around 0900 instead of 1500, and delivered earlier by the same amount. I could have picked up another load tomorrow instead of being out of time until the next day. -
2/8 split ... Get the hours back and you're only an hour behind the original schedule.
