That does happen with a lot of outfits. We do a fair amount of drop and hook, but they are our trailers, and they get routed in every two months for a major going over and repairs if needed. In the 5.5 years I have been with this carrier, I think maybe once I had to take a trailer to a shop, and that was for a light up top I couldn't reach. Have had a few roadsides as well, with no write-ups on any trailer I have pulled. Just like most things, it all depends on the carrier.

Please, I have a question, on an electronic log if it shows that you are out of hours on all three lines aren't you due for a 34 hour reset, & can the hours from last week that he wasn't driving be used instead of 34 hour reset, in other words can they be carried over.
-
You're never "due" for a 34 hour reset. 34 is optional.
You just can't drive until you do a reset or pick up some recap time. -
The hours that were used over the last 8 days are recovered as you go along. It is called a "recap". What we did since 1939 on paper logs before this 34 hr nonsense. The Elog will take care of recap for you. As was stated, the 34 hr reset is optional. If one drove, say, 9 hrs 8 days ago, they would pick up those hours again at midnight tonight. And the cycle continues. Whatever day you are on, whatever hrs were used 8 days ago get picked up, or "recapped" at midnight. If a person manages their time well, they can drive every day of the week forever.
