First, trucking is a very fluid industry. I've been in and out of trucking since 1982. I've worked for mega companies and the little guy. Rains and sons started with one man "Mr. Rains" one truck. They have expanded to 80 plus's trucks, still growing and still call me by name. The owners came to orientation and greeted everyone.
I give them a good job and respect. They recognised this and gave me the same.
Every expanding company has growing pains. How should a driver with this company handle this? Do what I do. Overcome, Adapt and Succeed... You do this and this company will do all within their power to back you up. I know this first hand. I got into a jam and without going into details, everyone from the owners down stuck by me and kept their word. I'm proud to say my position with Rains and Sons is secure.
In closing I like to say. If your like minded, you WILL get the miles and respect from everyone at Rains and Sons.

I feel for you, reefer should start from 38 to 42 cents plus for all that waiting you should get detention pay $15.00 up to $100.00 then it's just straight out layover pay plus you should be getting $50.00 for each additional pick up and delivery. I know they charge for detention, after all they're having they're trucks tied up as well as you but they shouldn't keep it all. Driver's need to prosper a little too. My advice is to sit with them and try to work something else, if not well then it's time to move on. If they're going to take that much time out of your life and compensate you I can see why you're angry.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU DRIVER -

I'm thinking of going over to them. I take it you recommend them.?
I read a post on here that they start you off at 34 cents. is that true?
That's very low for reefer. How about benefits? -

It sounds like you been around so I believe that you didn't fall for the snow job you always get at orientation.
That's all I'm looking for respect and decent pay. Please tell me they don't start you off at 34c for reefer and they pay extra pick ups and drops ,detention too Driver -
The father no longer does much with thr company hes left it to the sons to run. That being said, the sons have side businesses that they're more interested in. Which means they are letting the C.O.O. run the show, my brother has driven for them for many years i too drove for them as well. You get a lot of meat loads going out west. When my brother started driving for them(pre electronic logs) they were a great company. One of the few remaining outlaw companies that let you run hard at tge time. Add in elogs and a C.O.O. who is being forced into compliance by the govt. You have your typical company, where if you want miles, you take what they send you. Or else you go to the bottom of the list.they are not forced dispatch. So if you refuse a load, your now at the bottom of the list. They do have detention pay, layover pay and break down pay. Granted you have to meet certain criteria to get all of those. In general they were pretty good at getting you home when ever you nee to be home. They ask in orientation wjat parts of tge country you prefer to run. They will do their best to get you where you want to go. I have family in California and live in Arkansas. I said I liked running out west. They sent me out their constantly. I have run regional most of my trucking life 13 years and counting. So I got home sick for my regional runs and currently am taking time off due to a frozen shoulder and going through physical therapy for it. Soon to be back out there back to my regional. Like any company, they all have their ups and downs. It's just a matter of finding to company thats the right fit for you.
