You need to read the Green Bible again and learn some basic physics.dngrous_dime Thanks this.

all chain to apply down force... erm.. Ronslam you might want to reconsider that.
IF god chained your load with max downforce trailer breaks under load right? -
When securing your load you want to secure for the 5 directions of movement. Forward, back, left, right, and up. To do so with chains your chains will have some angle to them, however outside of a 45 degree angle chains aren't very effective. And I know someone is going to say that my link is wrong...

some of these ####### mighta misinterpreted what im tryin to say. but yes fmcsa says 1 for forward and 1 for rear. if your puttin 6 chains thru a suicide coil dont spread em out and you will cover those bases. its the guys who have a chain or 2 shootin to the rear of their trailer that worry me. that chain aint doin #### towards the amount of securement needed.

Hopefully here in about 6 weeks I will be holding my CDL and fully puckered. May the Lord grant me a healthy fear of coils, and of pvc pipes, 2x4 and drywall, to the lightest load of rolls of insulation or bales of hay.rank Thanks this.

Lol up. If your 40,000lb coil is going up, I don't want to be down.
-
I think it's odd, in the eye to side example.
I'd rather place the tie downs closer to the middle of the coil inside the dunnage so there would be two, both, preventing forward movement. Spreading them out seems to make them half as usefull, only one of the tie downs is going to prevent forward movement or visa versa.ronslam Thanks this. -
Why not add more, instead of simply moving the two your illustration shows?
