I'll tell you this also, I rarely look at those loads on a load board. But when I do the ones who post the rate are out of their mind. Rarely is there enough profit, if any, for those to be worthwhile. I've never called on them as I don't have the equipment to move it, to see if I could get the rate to where it should be. I also don't have time to just play games either.

Yeah Oscar ive been moving flats from loadboards only and it sucks at times (most of the time)
Thank you all for your answers the whole trucking biz is kind of weird at the moment.. some numbers dont match. Good luck to all -
Uh - unfortunately there were a few.
I would be willing to do those kind of shipments at this point.
As for the smart comments, do I knock on your door and ask how much you make even though it is really none anyone's business.
It gets tiring having people ask the same thing over and over.Orangees, TripleSix, TROOPER to TRUCKER and 5 others Thank this. -
See the problem is, to many see those like you have, see that big rate, and jump in and find out the hard way that big rate shrank to nothing real fast. Every time this happens it damages rates for those that know what is really needed to move those loads. Once something moves for cheap, it's hell to get it back where it should be.blairandgretchen, Dye Guardian, TROOPER to TRUCKER and 3 others Thank this. -
I didnt ask you spefically, i asked some poor nice and honest soul to speak up if they wanted to.. others could have just kept quiet?
This is why rates are how they are us truckers trying to chop ea others heads all the time instead of working together..
Thanks anyways all info is welcome -
Yeah you're right, it happens on all levels of trucking. Most of the time i try to help thats how im on flats, from dumps because of people i helped, i stayed without a job...

Like Oscar and Ron both stated. There are ones who come on here asking questions about rates. I know Ron and several other board members here personally. We don't get into bidding wars with each other. We may ask for advice on certain loads..
We just get tired of the ones who come on here asking for advice and we kinda try to help. Then they get rude and short with us.. I'm done with this discussion
Best of luck to you -
Ive been reading advice from here for over 2 years i think this was my first maybe 2nd post in that period. Since everyone is always helping etc.. i thought id ask? Anyways thanks for all your troubles believe me i have no intention of cutting rates nor get in more debt to TRY SOMETHING i have no clue of.

If you really want to know about the business, ask questions like what you need to learn, what you should expect, how to get started, and whether it is a good investment to try to jump into heavy haul cold.
The money comes not from having a big enough trailer, the money comes from knowing what you are doing, and being able to get it all done safely and legally.
Just asking about the money first shows you probably don't know the rest, which means the money question can't be answered with accuracy for you.
And getting pissy because some of the first answers are a bit sarcastic, just makes it less likely you will get better answers later, because who wants someone with no patience or sense of humor hauling oversized loads? LolDye Guardian and anairysycarlos Thank this. -
Thanks you are right in every aspect.
