So i have a 07 international 9400i
I need to replace my exhaust from turbo Back.. Would it be safe to use Flex pipe from turbo to the back of the sleeper? Connecting to the new Muffler? My turbo outlet is 5inch and the Muffler will be a 5inch intlet.
Running new Exhaust..

I asked a mechanic same question. He said that far the flex would rust out quicker from accumulation of condensation in the low spots. the flex wouldn't stay straight.

I wouldn't use that much flex pipe, you'll be replacing in constantly cause it will crack everywhere its not supported.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
i would not suggest that. flex pipe is always the part of the exhaust that fails first. it is necessary in some places under some circumstances but it is more expensive and does not last as long as exhaust pipe. ill typically end up replacing flex pipe a few times before the rest of the exhaust is junk and needs replacement. keep use of flex pipe to the minimum.

Where would be a good place to get exhaust pipe then? I'm sure dealer will charge out the butt for it.

Truckpro,Fleetprde,Carquest. Just check around.

Stupid question but uh.. If its a 5inch on the turbo side and exhaust side.. Would i need any adapter to connect the pipes lol

in my experience the only exhaust pipe that tends to be expensive from the dealer is the turbo down pipe. unfortunate your kinda stuck with the dealer for that piece, or maybe e-bay. but at least in my experience if i walk into a truck dealer and say i need say 2 90* elbows and 2 45* elbows and x number of feet of straight exhaust pipe. x number of band claps y number of guillotine claps its been reasonable prices.
if you walk in and say i need a complete exhaust for xyz truck they would probably rake you over the coals. if they even make compete exhaust kits (don't know never asked)
for mufflers for the standard 5" exhaust muffler like found on many trucks i like napa. they have a decent straight threw design reasonably quiet muffler for something like 60 bucks. if memory serves, and most napa's that handle truck parts have at least one on hand in my experience.
you should not have a problem replacing your entire exhaust for under 500. unless you have kinda a weird setup like the international's with stacks or w9 or a similar setup with the under the cab muffler and a exhaust that doubles back on itself.
i normally just replace a few sections of exhaust as needed. iv never actually gone threw and just replaced a entire exhaust at once. although if you did you would get many years of trouble free service -
Just about any truck parts store should have exhaust pipe. That's what I miss about older trucks. Everything was so generic.

Take this from me!! USE OEM style exhaust parts It makes the job simple. Off the shelf generic parts will make installation a nightmare The pipe that runs atop the frame has notches where the support brackets fit. This aligns that pipe in the proper position for the elbow that goes up to the muffler. That elbow is the most expensive part of the system. (about 300$ depending on dealer) This elbow has an indentation so the cab will not hit it if the cab air bags leak down. That long pipe that runs along the frame has this funky angle at the rear. It will line right up with the 300$ oem elbow, which will line right up with the muffler. You will need:
18": SS flex (at turbo)
2: SS band clamps for use with flex
1: exhaust pipe w/angel OEM
2: support brackets ( you will probably ruin yours taking taking it off)
1: OEM 90* elbow with matching clamps
1: muffler 10x56 w/5" inlet and outlet
plus odds and ins for the muffler and the exhaust tip.
