I enjoy nap time, but the regulation needs more flexibility.

If you click the link for the FMCSA page, it says that they run an average of 19 hours a day, so they must be running teams. Having done that before at PFG, I'll say you definitely need that break when you're working that long because you better believe both of those guys are working those stops, despite what their logs say. If it was a true blue local DC, or at least not running teams, that's different. I hope for those drivers' sake that they don't get this exemption. Plus, there's already ways around it anyways depending upon the scanning/logging system you use, and if you're taking your break at a key stop. Aka just roll the product in with the stickers facing out and scan them after your break is done.
Allegedly anyways. I for one would never violate the law, because the government knows how to run my day better than I do. -
Coming out of vacation swinging 17,238lbs good thing my batteries are recharged and ready to go!

Just starting my vacation feels pretty good not having to set my alarm for 145 tomorrow
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
No idea what you're talking about.
I had a route a couple years ago that was 4.5 hours to my first stop. Couple hours into that ride was when I needed a nap, but I would have to log a second break to finish the day, which I may or may not have time to do. So I just drive tired. Talking on the phone with other drivers in the same situation is what keeps us alive. Not quite the intention of the law, I think.
My current route is only a little over two hours to the first one, but I have to log an early break and then I have a lunch lockout later. I can't quite make it to lunchtime in eight hours, so I get two naps. Usually. Unless it's a heavy day. Then I might cheat a little.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I'll bet it does I've been off since last Friday now it's time to get back in the swing of things because it's going to be a hot minute until my next vacation.

southern_idiot499, truck_guy, Cardfan89 and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you ever run across any of these, be careful. They're known to break bones.
Ours went to the scrapyard.

Haven't seen that kind, but we do have the side to side bars and guys have set them up vertically and not to long ago last year someone set one up vertically and a loader was getting a trailer ready for loading and the bar popped and launched right at the loaders face and got him in the head.truck_guy Thanks this.
