Back when I drove there were times I hardly never touched my log book when I went off duty. I only drew my line from 3 to 4 showing my post trip/fuel then to line 2 the next morning then adding up the time and starting my new day's log. Lots of times I did this while waiting on breakfast. I even remember once doing a 10 at a Florida scale in their trucker rest area. I was outside the next morning trying to figure out why I could not get my reefer to start when a Florida DOT officer stopped and asked for my paperwork so he could do an inspection. I told him I was off duty and had not touched my logs yet. He said that was OK all he wanted to do log wise was check my 70 hour total. NOTHING was said to me about not current logs I did note the time he stopped me and when I could I started that days log and went to line 4 noting the inspection and about a week later enjoyed a big plate of BBQ from a place near a truck stop on I 24 in Tenn using the $25 bucks the Willis Shaw safety dept gave me for a clean inspection.

I'm just now seeing this because another person told me about it. Actually One guy had his truck put OOS because it was a cluster****. Another guy was put OOS simply because he was about 3 hours past his 14 and got parked for a 10. The 3rd one I don't know and am too lazy to search for it on the CSA site. Anything else??

Wow, this thread now has videos. Super legit now.

I had dinner tonight with a company safety person. We had an interesting conversation. I brought this thread up on my tablet and let him scroll through it. When the guy finished he was laughing so hard his face started to turn red. He told me that the FMCSA don't give a rats ### where or in what manner you take that break, only that you take it and properly log it when you go back on duty. He was going to show this thread to another person this week sometime. This person that is posting this nonsense is being made fun of now outside TTR.
Edited to add don't get all shaky trying to make something out of "and properly log it when you go back on duty. " he was not saying you could not log all 10 in the sleeper or that you had to log it all on line 1. He told me all the FMCSA say is if you use the sleeper log it on line 2.MachoCyclone and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I will go along with that. It;s truly epic when you can make a Safety man laugh his ### off. OUTSTANDING.

I was also offered a job as a safety person tonight. I can't accept it because I can't operate a motor vehicle because of my epilepsy.x1Heavy Thanks this.
