I've been a driver for 3 years in the oilfield I decided I was done with the oil and gas industry for now and quit. My friend and I are wanting to run teams otr. Does anyone know of companies that don't do hair follicle test its not for me I'm clean but my friend took a few months off and out of truck and decided to smoke pot about a month and a half ago. So is there any decent companies that do not hair follicle test? Or would I be better off running solo so I did not have to worry about It?I would rather run team than solo

This is one that just won't go away. Run solo. Leave the pothead on the couch.

Freymiller will probably hire you for teams. Urine tests last I heard.

Freymiller is also good for solo drivers. They accept your current DOT Medical Card, so you won't have to get another physical.

If you decide to run solo OTR then look at Trimac Transportation. Once he's clean you can team there also. It's tankers, so more than likely do hair follicle.

If in the future you are looking to run with the very best company out there, you need to stop asking questions about drugs. Woolly hires felons but can't hire drug users or thieves.

For clarification I am not a drug user never have been never will be. Nor would I willingly put my life in the hands of some one under the influence or allow them to endanger the highways. My post was for my friend that I would like to run teams with would I run with him if I thought he was a addict of any sort? No I value my trait and have the utmost respect for it. The man I want to team with took a 3 month vacation responsibility free and non commercial driving he wanted to partake in smoking once hey his choice he was financially stable I will not judge but with every action there's a reaction he made his choice it's not my burden to worry about hairtest y'all are correct . As always thanks drivers and be safe.

I agree. This wagon is 'unevenly yoked.' Haven't even been hitched up and already part of the team is holding back the other.

Years and years ago, I used to run team. Food service. Made excellent money. Got a gig where I could put a buddy on the truck. Expected things to go well. We were staying overnight in Baton Rouge 2 nights a week. My friend, good friend, had an alcohol problem. I knew he was always drunk when he was at home. Well, one Monday night and Thursday night, we would get a motel. The motel had a bar. We would go in, get some dinner and a beer. I'd go to the room and go to bed. He started closing the bar down. I thought I was being a friend by covering for him. He had a wife and kids and he was a good friend.

Well, one night, he went with a couple people from the bar to New Orleans and got poop face plastered. He made it back as I was warming the truck up. Drove 5 minutes to our last stop and started unloading. Numbskull dropped a dolly load of groceries. Then Numbskull passed out walking down the ramp. The manager at the restaurant asked me if he was drunk. Affirmative. I told the manager that I would take care of it. I told Numbskull to get into the truck. I finished unloading the truck myself.

So, I'm driving the 500 miles back home. Numbskull wakes up and wants to drive. 'Not happening.'

"But Six, I am alright now. I am sober."

Never said another word to the guy. Walked into the office and told the boss.

"Six, you mean you snitched a friend?"

Business. He was bad for business. I was making $1600/week with a 4 day work week and 2 overnights. Big mistake on my part was knowing that he had a booze problem and getting into the truck with him.

Want to know what it's like to be 'unevenly yoked'? You do the vast majority of the work, equally share all the responsibilities and get paid the same.

Anyway, OP, you are deceiving yourself if you think your buddy doesn't have a problem. If he didn't have a problem, you wouldn't be asking about the hair follicle stuff FOR A FRIEND. If he was on your level, the exact same level as you, this would not be an issue. But already you are doing his work, trying to cover for a friend. It only gets worse from here.

Not what you wanted to hear, is it? That's fine, I'd rather see you go solo and line your pockets. No handicaps.

    Luck in battle.
