They're stating it's a bit more than just a clutch job. Now that they've pulled it apart they found transmission damage. Not sure where or what kind of damage yet. I'm about ready to ask for a return and walk away, but we've spent a lot of time waiting on parts and I was hoping this guy was trustworthy. He may still be. I don't want to pre-judge, but I also don't want to be ripped off.

They also stated that the parts are coming from all over the world and that's why it's taken so much time due to part delays. I'm not sure how much truth there is to that, but I guess you never know?

I agree with you there. I know some shops claim you can be in their service bays due to "insurance reasons". I'm sorry, if you are working on my truck, I want to be able to go back and see the work being done if I want to.

If all the parts are there ready to install and the mechanic knows what he's doing, you should be able to do a clutch job in a day easy.

You guys have to realize this is not a simple "clutch job".

By the looks of that pic he has some serious issues. Bell housing and flywheel housing alone can be in excess of $3000. Labour to do a flywheel housing is not cheap. Parts , depending on what engine could take a while to get also.
Im going to say by the time you get ot out of the shop the bill might be higher then the $6000.

Some drivers can sure do lots of damage and honestly ive seen some crazy stuff . It still baffling how some this stuff happens.

    Good luck

Yes, unfortunately it's not what I desired to be dealing with. What can ya do... lol
I've been ripped off in the past with previous mechanics and I'm just hoping this guy is legit and reasonable. The bell housing is extremely damaged. It sounds like a rock is getting shot back n forth when the truck is running (not moving - just running). It's unfortunate, but I believe my last mechanic didn't put the clutch in properly when he replaced it last time. I see a future court date coming my way...

They're stating possibly some transmission damage too.. Ugh. I really hope this isn't going to kill me. I've already spent $26,470 in repairs from 5 months ago until now.

Soo.. The mechanic is stating the flywheel housing by itself is $2,500. I've looked around and have yet to find one that high priced. I'm not sure where he is looking. It's a Cummins ISX engine, Eaton Fuller transmission.
