It is smart business management for the company, No necessarily for the employee. That money the company is holding for a month is potential interest lost to the driver. You list all the reasons it is advantageous to the company, but not to the driver.

I like a net 7 on my receivables... Of which my pay is one.

 

Any sucessful business does NOT balance employees payroll on receivables. That is great for the company, and cash-flow...but is an arrogant, and pi**s-poor way to run a company. If you can't meet payroll without balancing your business obligations on your employees backs, CLOSE THE DOORS Ms. Clinton!

 

If you claim more exemptions it will lower the withholding taxes. Of course tho the more money you make the more in taxes you gotta pay. If you don't want 2pay taxes than don't make much money. The higher pays will have more withholding and the lower pays have less withholding which evens out over the year. But manage your exemptions correctly and it won't be a problem. On the tax form you can even put an amount to be withheld to but then you best be correct for the year or you'll have to pay a penalty possibly. I used to be a tax preparer before trucking claimed me. Ino what I'm talking about. But do what you want.

Every business stands on the back of their employees. The employees are the heart, life and breath of every business. Without employees, the business don't move. It affects the employees greatly as well if the business shuts down. It's in best interests of all involved for the business to be profitable. Some businesses don't turn a profit for 3-5 years, depending on the business could even be 10 years. It is very plain you do not understand business management at all. It's not a rare instance where companies must borrow to make payroll. I'm not saying what Trihi does or does not do bcuz I'm not in their office but I'm just explaining the commonly accepted and beneficial business practices and reasonings since people were asking relative questions. I don't really care if you believe me or not. But if you want to widen your tunnel vision and become more knowledgeable take some business classes yourself. If you do your attitude would be totally different from the one displayed above.

 

Tunnel vision? Two business started by me. Both still in business. Both sucessfulwhen sold. First one almost got in trouble paying attention to a bookkeeper. I knew better and corrected the problem. Tunnel vision? I went to, and worked with bankers to make business profitable, and work. I never EVER witheld payroll until receivables came in. I DIDN'T PAY MYSELF
How DARE an owner not pay employees what is due them when it is due. There is no labor department statute that allows it.
If your silly enough to "take a draw" weekly, then pay taxes on one big weekly check, go ahead. But....you better have a bunch of justifiable legitimate deductions. Don't believe me, again, look at the tax deduction charts;weekly vs: bi-monthly vs: monthly. Uncle Sam hates it when you get a big check for one weeks work. Granted it's for a month....but it's paid on a weekly basis...unless there's information not disclosed in this post.

 

Let me see if I got this straight. You shake in your boots and bite your fingernails at a simple solution of managing your exemptions but then you want me to believe you are a business superman with all the insider secrets of business CPR that bankers crave. And you get angry when business owners DARE exercise their American freedom of running their business as they see fit. Wow! That says a lot, doesn't it? Horrors of horrors, you even helped businesses increase their tax rate to far more than a monthly paycheck would!

Trihi does not withhold payroll. Their employees get what they earn. They also have a very successful solid business that is a community pillar.

Also, there doesn't have to be any statute that allows anything. Is there any local statute that specifically allows you to tie your shoes? But you still do it. How about brush your hair? Any local statute that specifically allows for it? If something is illegal it is bcuz a statute does NOT allow it. Your reasonings are really getting absurd in my opinion. I think you would be able to write a great comic book.

Also the tax charts are for annual income. That is why we file our taxes once a year and get tax refunds if taxpayer paid too much in.

Idont know you from Tom, Dick or Harry so I don't know if your business boastings are true or not. Nor do I care to know. No, I do not believe everything on the internet. But I do know your reasonings as you set forth are flawed. Your statements show me a lack of tax and business knowledge. But that's your problem, not mine. Yeah. I really meant tunnel vision.

So I'm just curious, are you a driver recruiter for this company or office staff? You will not win over any driver by telling them the office saves money by paying them once a month.

 

I wasn't trying to win over any driver. I was merely trying to explain and answer the questions that people were asking bcuz I knew the answers to those questions. No, I'm not a driver recruiter or office staff.

I worked for Trihi as a driver for over 8 years. Then I left them bcuz I wanted my own truck and more control over my schedule so I could attend law school. Got on with a leasing company that pretty well just took care of themselves at my expense. So I changed to another company that had company drivers and owner operators, planning to get my own truck after saving up and going in their o/o division. I checked all these companies out pretty well too. But oh the bad shenanigans I've had to put up with in this different company now.

Yes, it upsets me very much when I see/hear people with no idea talking bad/false accusations about Trihi. Working for Trihi was the best job I ever had. They are terrific people with a good heart. I consider them my friends as they considered me. I saw them take a driver out and buy him household necessities and helped to get him set up after the driver's wife kicked him out and took pretty much everything he had. I saw when the one owner sat with a driver at the hospital all night when the driver lost his wife. I remember how they helped me when my abusive ex was bent on destroying me. I remember how they helped me when my daughter died. The owners of Trihi are worth millions yet you would never know it by the way they act. They are terrific caring people. Excellent planners and dispatchers. They can get grumpy when you call them at night.

Are they perfect? No one is. Do they have their quirks? All of us do. Yes, even one has a very quick temper. Do they make mistakes? Who on this earth hasn't? But cheat you they will not. They have very high ethics, morals and integrity. They are strong community pillars.

Trihi was the best job I ever had. I'm going to contact them today and tell them I want to work for them again.

They do have excellent equipment with driver comfort in mind. They do take excellent care of that equipment as well. They do have the miles with steady freight. Even in February we were always busy. No northeast. Ohio is about fartherest northeast they get. They do run u hard and that's what I like. When I'm out, I wanna work - not sit along the road somewhere. When I sit, I wanna sit at home. Slackers will not like this place nor will they be appreciated. They are also a medium paying company in my opinion. But I've always made good money and never was cheated. I know it's the right place for me.
