The point was that either he was FOS regarding his FedEx experience, or he utterly failed at trucking.

Either way, he has no business telling anyone else how to handle their business.

I will agree with you that one should use their own professional when making financial decisions, i.e. Retirement, taxes or business equipment related. However when you ride around 10 hours a day and have the ability to learn about different topics that you might not learn otherwise, it was time well spent. It is up to each individual to decifer what information would be good advice and what may or may not be good for you.

Since I have listened to him off and on for several years I will correct those who are misinformed about his real world experience in trucking.

Regarding Kevin's trucking experience. He started out as a one truck owner operator in he's early 20's doing P&D. He then grew to roughly 10 trucks hauling van and refer freight with his own authority. During this time he has told on the radio that was over leveraged and nearly went broke but like others learned many things. He then got down to one tractor leased to Fed Ex ground and eventually had 3 leased to them. He sold his FedEx contract a few years ago. He went to school to do taxes and has done mainly owner operator taxes for over 20 years. I have learned more in my 50 plus years on this earth from my mistakes. Therefore it is possible to learn from others mistakes and this is some of the things I have learned from Kevin.

I have not drank his coolaid but have learned many things from him. With 30+ years of real world experience in trucking and building wealth, I have the ability to think and react on my own. Had I not listened to him I probably wouldn't have built a glider. This truck averages approximately one mile a gallon more than many comparable emissions car hauler. Over $7,0000 a year at current fuel prices. Also my rig has spent zero time in the shop chasing EGR problems. Had I not listened to him I might not be buying fuel in the cheapest states after taxes are taken out via Fuelbook on my smart phone. This routinely saves me 10cents a gallon or more and costs me zero and probably 15 seconds of my time. I probably would be paying more in taxes had I not listened to Kevin. I may have not known when to or when not to incorporate, to lower social security and Medicare tax payments. Although I did confer with my CPA about this topic and was told basically the same thing.

While some of you will think I drank the Kevin Koolaid and you are free to believe what you want! I am netting more money on my business and investments today thanks to the information I have received on Dave Ramsey and Kevin Rutherfords radio shows. I received second and third and sometimes fourth or fifth opinions before acting on their advise since I am a long term planner and don't ever jump to anything. This time cost me absolutely nothing since I was holding the steering wheel and would otherwise been listening to music.

If you don't think he should be giving others advise on a radio show designed to give advise, Don't Listen! Have a nice day and run your business any way you see fit as this is exactly how I will run my business.

Now hold on. Not so fast @Banker. I never said EVERY piece of info is bad info from him. It couldnt be. Hes obviously gotten good info from others from time to time and passed it on. Thats fine. Hell, that great.

However, the day i heard him preaching to people and telling them that the AIRCELL intake spacer and TURBO3000D fuel saver were "great investments".....naw. That done it. Those are snake oil rip off products that are a waste of money and time. As a good business man, why would he recommend buying that crap. Not good advice at all.

As far as your glider goes, i think thats a great decision. However, i dont think you needed Kevin to explain it to you to see the benefit. No offense, but with the ability to get information these days, theres no reason why you shouldnt have personally dug up the info your were looking for or maybe even talked to the glider company yourself. Which im sure you did. Buying a glider is almost like knowing the sun comes up in the morning. What serious owner op. DOESNT know about what a glider is and the benefits are?

I think its great you take your business serious. You are one of a few these days that do. I also understand listening to the radio to gain info. Saves time and thats also great. Lot of benefit there. Im just saying dont believe everything you hear all the time. Everyones situation is different. Good luck to you.

Maybe we agree on more things than we realized! Just we didn't understand each other.
