Well, I got 380k out of my first clutch. Apparently that was a record for our terminal. I'm up to 665k now on my second one.
-
I know ours did 220K team that one year but the tractor likely would have been traded back in for a new lease model year by 300K anyhow. It was a auto, but still the behavior sitting still was there.
I clean forgot the olden days with brake on shifter. That also comes to remembering the axle shift as well as the range shift in addition to overs and unders drive. ... You young uns need to run a few to really appreciate how well today's engineering have managed thus far.bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
Guys with modern equipment you should be getting over a million easy.
-
Just try a million mile truck these days it will be like sitting inside a bean can being shaken and stirred. It's not something conductive to confidence on the road.
Lucy in the Sky Thanks this. -
My truck has 1 million 3 on it and I would say it is as tight as most newer trucks. Depend on the model an make of the driver.
500k is good for a clutch usually the damper springs will brake anf cause issues.
As far as clutch brake, only to stop the input shaft enough to put it in gear.
The clutch starting and stopping, occasionally to relieve load if rolling down hill and needing to shift. -
Clutch life all depends on what application you're in. Floating on the highway all the time, thing should last forever. Out in the bush or in and around town with lots of starts and stops, clutch life is going to be reduced a lot.
truck_guy, Lucy in the Sky and Final Drive Thank this. -
Excuse me, my truck has 1.6 million on it and it ain't no bean can.
The best way to get miles out of a clutch is start in the low hole and don't use the clutch to hold the truck at a light. Mine is on it's second clutch.Ke6gwf, x1Heavy and Final Drive Thank this. -
Yes Im just a summing it's over the road.Grubby Thanks this.

I recently burned a clutch brake
Years of not running a rig and I was going to the floor like it was my car lol. If you drive it like a car, you will smell the clutch burning at every stop(and glance and suspiciously trying to figure out where that distinct smell came from). Hard to break habits and all.
