I'm on both sides of the fence, I broker orders and run 2 semis & a dually. It's wild seeing what people post on central, and it's even more incredible to see that people TAKE it. Just today I saw a 3 car load from Washington state to Texas for $650. less than .10cpm. I wouldn't even dream of posting an order that low, or even think about sending any of our trucks anywhere in the same zip codes of that order.
The real problem is the guys that haul for cheap, they drive the rates down and "train" the brokers to post orders for insanely low rates.
I choose to bring the truck back with empty spots before I'd ever even consider hauling crap for those rates. F### "fuel money" runs on the way in. It's bad for business because if you do it once, the broker will do it again and again. Can't really blame someone for taking advantage of a trucker willing to haul for cheap...brian991219 and Terry270 Thank this. -
I don't even bother calling when rates are too low . Just drive empty .
KANSAS TRANSIT, Tropsnart and Terry270 Thank this. -
Wow, that is terrible.... How can anyone run that low? Especially a dually being that the replacement fund has to be so high wearing out at around 300-350,000 miles... Why would anyone run lower than .70 a unit? Even that I see as low.Terry270 Thanks this.

What do you guys think

Hell I seen a load on Central for a car coming from Pensacola to sw Miami that's 674 miles for $100. And the after the price the broker had the nerve to write "don't ask for anymore".
-
Well I started it. I called central dispatch and explained what us carriers are going through, she said she will talk to someone but she thinks it's a legal thing or something like that, what I think what will make them listen is for more of us to call and complain and ask can they make it so brokers cannot post cars to be moved for under .48 cents a mile.

My thing is this, if a broker has a car that he needs moved for a customer, they are going to want to be able to move that car fast or in a reasonable amount of time. If he can't the customer will find another broker. Now if the broker so happens to go to another load board with that cheap car cool, but it won't love fast first of all its cheap second it's not on Central dispatch were it would be moved fast because of how poplar cd is. I don't know if this is the solution but come on people we have to do something.
