Hey China. That former post went a long way. Thanks so much.

Do you know if Florida Rock and Tank sticks firmly to their 1 year experience standard? They've got some great opportunities I'd be interested in, being very close to my area.

I also understand some being leery of a rookie hauling gas. If I could however, with proper training, I'd love to give it a shot. Being aggressive by nature I like to tackle challenges and I'm also pretty paranoid about safety, so it seems like a fit. I don't mind putting in hours and hours to learn.

    Tia

Florida Rock & Tank sticks to the 12 mos. experience, but try anyway. Some companies have flexibility and some don't.

Your degree will give you an edge during the hiring process over somebody that doesn't have it. Especially if your trying to go local right away...Once you get that choice job then use it for toilet paper.

What it did do was fracture the family and put me into a situation where should a deaf mute or trainable dare to live free from the insitution that sheltered him or her? I say yes. Not just yes but hell yes.

Looking back on my graduating class of around 30, I recall 7 in specific who probably are living out their lives as a plain dishwasher in obscurity. Unaware of the vast and great USA we all have been lucky to travel. Two probably married and is living well, hope they have a dozen children. (If they don't Imasmack em...)

As far as the dispatch yelling, they can only fire once. Man's anger burns an hour but God.. his wrath burns forever. Thus is the cornerstone of love and fear of Him compared to what man might try to do to me. Im no thumper but I will tell you that He lives because his works are manifest in trucking many a time when I found myself in a jam with Nature etc.

Degrees? Sure. I have a half a 2 year on IT, enough to flee the salt mines of Cisco and programming. Game software programming was ok, but I learned that I don't want to live my life hunched over a keyboard with bosses yelling. Repeating small sentences.

That was not what did it. It's the Indian coming to Arkansas on H1B to learn MY job. on wages half what I would cost as a new graduate.

Why did I even get into computers? Figure out these dang fancy new computer trucks maybe. Throw a laptop on em configure the hundreds of points inside them until I had a dollar truck perhaps... *Evil smile....

Wife has a 4 year. First in her family. (Don't ask... Scots, Norse and god help us all french...) and it's worthless.

45,000 dollars spent from around 2001 to 2008 and paid back in freaking 2014 plus interest to dear Uncle Sam.

Worthless. Burn it for heating ....

Averitt Express has some dedicated accounts that get you home nightly. Pay & hours depends on the particular account. They now hire no-experience CDL drivers, and send them through "boot camp" or "finishing school", I forget what they call it. On our account new drivers ride/drive with trainer in our daycab for 5-6 weeks. They have Web page with info, Google for it.

I would start looking in your area for companies that train so you'll be ready to start right after your finished with school. If you can't find anyone then you may have to be gone for weeks.

...Or months. If you were a really bad student, you wont last 10 minutes with a trainer, you would be shipped back home in a hour.

But let's say you were a good student and learn. Training takes months, What then?
