mmm,...Great, here the day before i'm supposed to be picked up by mentor i learn how i was lied to by recruiters and a few others. I went over on the Swift flatbedders FB page and they answered some things. I was TOLD i was in the regional midwest fleet. I heard so many times about the triangle,...Indiana to Texas to the Carolinas , this way or that way....some deviation of course. I found out today there is NO Midwest regional flatbed,...it's pretty much Midwest to the northeast. There could even be some west. Mine is a Owner who lives down south,...which means my hometime, motel probably. Instead of 3 weeks i had been told,..it's more like 4 maybe even 5 weeks with mentor. My daughters 18th birthday is 11/12, and my recruiter said she was going to make a note of that because i really wanted home CLOSE to it. Now,..doubt that. Hate to admit it,..but it seems a lot of people try to warn you. Recruiters promise the world,....and carriers with not so good reps, can have some bad ones. I went earlier from being excited to get going,...to frustrated and irritated. Even debating whether to jump now,...cause it seemed i was lied to about several things. Recruiter said up front, C1 school was 3 weeks, then brief orientation, then on truck. School was 5 and a half weeks (no paychecks). I calmed down,...but boy earlier i was on other carriers websites as well as indeed.com.

Thought these schools were 3 weeks?

Thats what i was told by recruiter. I had been without paycheck of course and needed to get going. Got there and it was like "you'll get done when you're READY to test". Okay, i understand. However, my first week was a 4 day week(holiday)...and several had to retest a 2nd or 3rd time....so it delayed things. They bring in like 20 new students every monday. So there could be 50 or more students at anytime.

And most of us...little money. You really need to take at least $200. The motels somewhat have what they call breakfast,.. but schools dont feed you. I think Prime feeds theirs.

What i thought.. If you needed more time to pass the test....why is it the recruiters fault?. Nice of the school to give you that opportunity.

Sounds like you just started in this industry, so its going to be a big adjustment in your life. Keep a gokd attitude and do t stress on the negative part of the job. You will have a few till you learn the system.

My issue was from beginning i was put into flatbed regional. Most companies, it's a seniority thing to get that or dedicated. All i heard was "the triangle". Indiana (roughly) to Laredo (roughly) over to the Carolinas (again, roughly). Either way, but basically up and down thru midwest, no east coast or west of Rockies. Recruiter said i would be home pretty much every two weeks (again, roughly). I thought wow, pretty good routing. I was told the other day by the flatbed trainer that regional is probably 3-4 days out. REALLY? I would rather be out and get some miles but that's great hometime. Anyways, THIS is what i had in my head even before schooling. While waiting on mentor, i went on the Swift flatbedders FB page YESTERDAY,...and was told the opposite pretty much. There Is NO MIDWEST REGIONAL route,.sure it's midwest with some possible west,...but it's up the northeastern US as well probably including the those nice little cities most truckers don't really like going,...and you know where. Anybody would be a little upset if you find out some truths in the 11th hour (so to speak). I mean during your INITIAL talks with recruiter...and she says you'll be running right around here ,regional,...so you agree and sign with the carrier. Believe me,... i have heard all the stuff about recruiters. It's always,...gee, i didn't think it would happen like that with me. Yep. So , i'm gonna go out and hang in there and make it thru mentorship, and test out. See what happens then.
